Here is some information about me. I am 33 I think maybe 32 (i forget) but I painted alot when I was in school, and haven't painted since 11th grade and also it was just canvas. I started 40k about 1 month ago. SO without further ado here are some pics.

Wow! Incredible work for one so young - my kids just drooled and pooped a bunch at that age... (Sorry, couldn't resist :D ).

Very nice work there, like I said in the other thread, I really like the rhino. But the missle launcher has a great pose - he is seeming to say "Okay, that target's dead - who's next!".

Good, clean painting, very much like the way I started painted miniatures. However, I'm going to be a little critical, in a (hopefully) helpful way.

If you painted on canvas, you should know the importance of shadow and highlights to create the illusion of 3D objects. Granted, miniatures are 3D, but a small amount of shading/highlighting can be used to enhance their appearance. The easiest technique for miniature (which will not work on canvas) is a wash/ink.

I typically just thin some paint and use it for washes. Try 4-5 parts solvent (water for GW paints) to one part paint. Then paint this wash over the base colour. The wash paint should be a darker shade of the base colour. This will flow into the recesses and once dry, will create automatic shadows.

For Irn warriors, an overall brown-ish wash can create a nice effect. It will shade the gold, and i makes the silver appear more like rusted metal.

Thanks Culven:
I like "C&C" comment and critizism" I haven't learned the wash tech, or shadowing in 40k YET !!! But Ben is letting my borrow his "How to paint mini's" and "How to paint Citadel Mini's" so I will soon be up to speed. THEN I can go back and work over some of the stuff I have already done.

Here's my lord, but the best pic but you can see some detail.

But I am now using him as my Champion in my Raptor Pak, get it Rat Pak

It was How to Paint Space Marines and How to Paint Citidel Minis. Do you guys know of some other books that detail how to paint minis?

Osprey has a fantastic set of Model Master books which cover different model/terrain types and techniques which would be useful for them. However, they are really intended for highly detailed, museum quality modeling. Many of the techniques are too delicate to stand up to gameplay.

That is what I call the gamer's dilemma. To look good but still be playable. I can't tell you how many beautiful terrain pieces I have made that can't be used.

There are some apparently really good books kicking around, such as the following:

http://www.bookfellas.co.uk/scripts/bro ... 8496527913

(I've been after the Vehicle version of this book for a while but the only copies I've seen on sale are ridiculously expensive, I've seen it listed on the Amazon Marketplace for over £400 when the RRP was £40!).

Oh, don't buy that book from that link - PM me first and I'll organise a better price ;)

The same publisher also has books on painting female figures, and on scratch building models - however both are "publisher reprinting" status, and if the vehicle book is anything to go by this means they'll be flagged out of print soon and won't be available.

The PDF I've got is the CMON Ultimate Painting guide... And it is very good. :D
As for sending it by E-mail... That depends on you maximum allowable message size.
Alternatively, I could upload it to my domain and set up a download link.

EDIT: heh, ok I'll send via the evil hotmail.
