Norwegian gamer signing on!

Postby NorseWarrior » Wed Sep 19, 2007 2:08 pm

Hi. 30 year old graphic designer and web designer from Oslo signing in. Have been doing WHF since I was 16, but 5 years ago I started playing a lot of 40K and this has since been my baby.

I have a large Tau army, played it since the first codex came out, and this will always be my number one army.

BUT the last year I started collecting a pure Deathwing army... and I have now 3000 points of it, and working hard to get it finished. Great fun, have played about 25 games with my DW and enjoyed every one.

I am here for the hobby; for the modelling, converting, painting, playing and just having a great time with gaming buddies.

I will be posting pictures and try to take an active part in this forum, and share my experiences with you (and hopefully get answers to all my questions...haha)

Welcome to the site. Nice to see another non-youngster. You're far from the oldest on the site though - I think KInG has that honour :P

Hahaha, well, young at heart is all that matters...this hobby lets me indulge my youthfull side too, and I just love it! I worked at GW in New York City for a while, and played a lot there too, and the veterans really are a great resource for this hobby. They are always willing to share tips and experiences and usually knows a lot about the background of different armies.

I consider myself a veteran, and I am glad to hear I am not the only one... This hobby is not just for youngsters, and I am proud to have this as my past-time activity!

Quite a few of the members of this site are in their 30s and 40s, and I'm among them :)

A mere youngster! I'm 35. I have a feeling Algeroth is 40 something, which will probably make him the oldest.

Well, what can I say, NOTHING wrong with that. While I lived in New York we had a gaming club consisting of people in the age-range of 17-42...everyone was there for the same reason...have fun, play the game and share painting tips. Good times.

(One of the guys there had been playing 40k since Space Hulk came out, and had 40.000 points of Imperial guard...no joke)

I started playing 40k long before Space Hulk came out :P I had my first game of 40k back in 1988, not long after it came out. Space Hulk came out a few years later, and by the time I moved to University I had Rogue Trader, Adeptus Titanicus, Blood Bowl, Space Hulk, and a few other non-GW games.

40,000 points of Imperial Guard is a bit nuts though - I think I've got around 12,000 and I think that's excessive!

Hahaha, yeah...I though I was crazy with my 6000 points of Tau, till I met this guy. He just loved the miniatures so much...and had every single one of them...

6000 is pretty respectable. Right now I think this is what I'm up to:

Marines: 9000
IG: 12000
Chaos: 3500
Eldar: 6500
Grey Knights: 2500

and a smattering of other stuff.

Hmm...not bad...

I only have two armies in 40k so far:

Tau: 6000
Deathwing (Pure): 4500

But I worked for GW at some point in my life, and spent close to all my money on all kinds of stuff. I have about 2000 points of Marines, and 1000 points of orcs. I love to paint, and orcs are so much fun.
