Well, where to begin. You say my photos are fake because of the artifacts in it. You checked carefully but didn’t consider one thing. It’s an old piece of garbage camera we keep around the office, it was top of the line 7 years ago. The other shots were at my house with my camera, which is slightly better. But, that’s not really important.

I’ll tell you what I’ll do. I will meet your initial request and PM you my work E-mail, I’ll assume you can keep it private. Plus if you send me your shirt size and an address I will ship you some movie swag, that’s right, I said swag.

How do you like dem apples:

I know once you slip one of these beauties on it will quickly become your most prized possession. All else in your life will fade in comparison. In truth I have one and it’s a good quality t-shirt.

If you accept, I would like to see a photo of you in the shirt (pants too please) and maybe a sign, with the message of your choosing. Maybe something like, oh I don’t know, Ultramarune is da man! You choose.

Fair play to you Ultramarune for staying polite and in good spirits dispite all us doubting you. As the first one of us to point out what we thought to be dodgey dealings Ill be the first to apologize and accept that you are who you say you are.

On topic, I wasn't a fan of the film. Its was the fluff inaccuracies that really bugged me as a big fan of 40K with 18 years of time invested in the background. You said it was made for fans but were any of the fans targeted over the age of 12?

However I do hope there will be more films made, as long as the same mistakes are not made as with Ultramarine.

Thank you Ogregut, I don’t hold grudges and I would be the first to admit that maybe I didn’t handle this as well as I could have. But in all honesty I didn’t think it would go down like it did. Then again, I’m not particularly bright.

Your opinion of the films is definitely shared by many. That’s one of the reasons I’m here. First to bring attention to the roll out of the HD download and eventual Blu Ray launch and second to find out what people want if more films are made.

It’s going well, sorta.

Hey Ultra,

I appologize as well since I originally posted prior to Ogre behind closed forums asking about your authenticity. Which may have set the hounds on the case a little heavier. In any case I am beginning to give you the benefit of my doubts as you have gone a long way to keep an even tone even under this scrutiny.

As for your offer, I would happily accept your challenge and take my pic in your swag with your sign. If you are serious, pm me your email and I will send you my info. Mind you however, I am in the states. But I have no problem eating my words and accepting a little public humility to prove who someone is. ;)
The only "hobby" GW is interested in is lining their pockets with your money.

I've had the PM from Ultramarune, and sent off an email. I'll let you know when I get a reply. I appreciate the trust you've put in me.

Ultramarune, you might want to consider that most of the guys here are in the UK, not the US and Canada, before you go offering freebies :P And there's no way I'm posting a pic of me in my pants (don't you just love the language differences?).

While the T-shirt looks good, you have failed to take into account how long I've been in this hobby - it's going to be hard to beat my GW Crux Terminatus and AdMech T-shirts that I bought new long long ago (but not in a galaxy far far away).

If it was a Dark Angels T-shirt then maybe, but Ultramarines?? :D

I had the best t shirt, it was the bloody fist of khaine , a gauntleted thin hand covered in blood rising from a liquid with all the eldar sigils orbiting it.. that was a darn fine T-shirt, bought it 23 years ago (ish) used it in my lifeguarding exams (as it was the threadbarest smallest t-shirt I had) then handed it on 13 years ago.
(anyone find a picture of it anywhere? it was black and white apart form the gauntlet which was red)

(Oh I also acquired by strange means a t-shirt where someone had freestyle painted the realm of chaos lost and damned cover pic (you know the one with papa nurgle sitting behind a chaos horde- that was pretty winsome.)

Merch just isn't as awesome + mother fainting as it used to be..now it has to be band t-shirts if you don't want to look like a clean shaven Roboute Guilliman rules obedient house boy.(which, lets face it, kids who desperately want to be cool aren't going to rock on the street)
Barely even lurking..

I missed out on my bestest t-shirt, the death-cult one with the mickey mouse symbol (see my avatar).
But, a retro t-shirt shop later and I now have one!
I can now t-shirt blend with my watermark on my army list!
Aint that great!

I got told off (yes, again) by a mother, whilst I was wearing it, because her daughter started shouting "Mickey, mickey, mickey!!!"
Mum said "You shouldn't wear that around children, they'll think Mickey's dead!"

What are we supposed to call "old Ultramarune dude" now?

Personally, I enjoyed the film.
But, in retrospect, it was a bit of a fanboy reaction (no I don't play space urine).
It was, "Wow, 40k for (almost) real!!!"

The worst thing, was imo, the banner of the squad, that looked as flat as a martian pancke.
The best thing, were the voice actors (in terms of wow factor), but less so, perhaps for what they actually brought to it.

Imo, it would be better to spend budget on the visuals and story, as star appeal is of no importance, for me. Who would be atracted by the actors, rather than the 40k content???
They really got him, but why?

I don't agree with the others, their was sufficient fighting for me, but, as said earlier, I think there needed to be a POW!!!! moment earlier on.
This is my usual formula in rpg's (about 30 years experience) and I think the concept is sound.

Boil down to ...

Better visuals, more action but certainly not non-stop, but if there is one rule to follow it's that "FLUFF IS ALL, DEVIATE FROM THE FLUFF AND FEEL THE WRATH OF THE FANBOY (and odd, very odd, girl)!!!

It's kind of very embarrassing to admit, but I think the hooby is full of trainspotters. Me included.
I think you are dealing with the crowd that watches a war film and criticises the director for using British/american surplus tanks from the fifties, to represent ww2.

"It's a tiger!!!"
"Oh no it aint, it's a comet."

You really are in the realms of Galaxy Quest.

OK, let’s all settle down here. The offer of the freebie was for Spack. Those other T-shirts will be going up for grabs in some upcoming contests.t I will let you know when those are coming.

I’ll post all new information about contests and any other news about the movie in the Other News section of the Forum, when I find out the details. I think that’s the right spot. Someone can correct me if it should actually go into the Anything Goes section.

I’ve heard unsubstantiated rumours around the office of some of the other kinds of swag, but I haven’t laid eyes on them yet, so I don’t want to say too much. But there is definitely more stuff in the works.

When dealing with a fan property I think there’s always a balance to strike. I think this is particularly true with WH40K. Unless you’ve read every Spiderman in the last 50 years you’ll let some changes go, if the story is good and pretty close to canon, who cares that he didn’t have web shooters (it actually makes more sense). But, WH40K players live and die in the details of the game. That’s a level of knowledge that adds a very big, extra level difficulty to creating a story. I’m glad I’m not the writer.

Well, I would love the chance.
Though, it would probably be that I turn into the daemon that is Matt Ward.

It was said before, but I do think "mathammer" encroaches on the level of sustainable suspension of disbelief = more hits before a marine goes the way of all flesh = more necessary combat, but not too much and wary of "disposable" new bloke on the away mission in star trek.

Also, I quite like the disparity in character shown in the marines, in particlar, the worldwearyness of the apocathery.
Even in the most fanatical belief system, there will be varied aproaches.
But, colour of the armour aside, once the helmets were donned, it became a little difficult to differentiate the characters.

Not quite sure how I would deal with this.

As an example of fluff/mathammer, I would ask, "Why did the flamer explode, when we "know" that it is plasma guns that get hot???

In the story, its fine, but when held up against the fluff as it is actually "in-game", it becomes a weakness.
