New Game coming

Postby timewizard » Wed Apr 18, 2012 2:00 pm

Hi all,

There's a company over here looking for backers to commit cash to develop a new game called Zombicide.

Looks like a fun game, for from 1 to 6 players, and there are different rewards attached to each level of backing.

Backers at a certain level ($75 and above) will get a game shipped to them when it becomes available.

Here's the link to the site, check it out!

Very interesting game. I like that you have the ability to play with friends, but also is possible to play solo. Many board games today are minimum of 2 players, and my son really isn't old enough to understand tactics and planning for that sort of stuff. I might have to look in my piggy bank to see if I have some money to send. The $100 limit is the sweet spot since that gets you the game, dice, lithograph and all 3 special minis, plus it puts you in the running for the stretch goals as many are for the people that pledged $100 or more anyway. Not sure if they will hit the next couple levels, but the additional models woudl be cool to get.
The only "hobby" GW is interested in is lining their pockets with your money.

Yes, I agree. I originally pledged $75 but as they started adding more goodies at the higher levels, I increased my pledge to the $100 level.

Looking at the comments, it looks like they'll be shipping to the UK as well {hint hint! :hello2 }

Plus theyre going to be showing it at Adepticon, so it might go up a bit in the pledge level department.

I don't get the idea behind the stretch goals? There is a game very similar to this already on sale in the UK and also I think this company needs to be careful that Sheldon from the big bang theory doesn't sue them for image rights for the nerd character! :-)

That's this one?

http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/3698 ... -boardgame

Well, it's a zombie game, but they look very different.

There's also a video, shows an example of gameplay and some of the minis;

In the game, the slow zombies are called "walkers" which is what the characters on "The Walking Dead", (a series on the over here on cable) call the zombies in the show. But I doubt there's any copyright infringements there either.

Basically as the number of backers increases and the start up money increases, backers at certain level get more additional stuff.

It look like a way to get more backers to sign up, or to get existing backers to increase their pledge. (Which is what I did as I saw the add-ons that were going to be included)

Wonder if the model has a rule for "the house agreement" - Even if Sheldon is bitten by a Zombie, you still can't kill him!

Or this one
http://forbiddenplanet.com/5491-zombies-core-rules/

Got a mate who has bought all the expansions, still need to get round to playing it.

I've always wanted to collect a Modern Zombie game, there are lots of manufacturers out there making suitable 25/28mm miniatures.
Just not found a rule set that I liked.

There is a similiar game called "night of the Living Dead" or "Zombie Apocolypse" or something like that - we just call it the "Zombie Game". It requires one players to be the zombies and the others player stereotypes but it can be a bit one sided and not give a good game.

This one does has some good figures but at $75 for the game its a bit much for something in an already crowded market.

The one it reminded me of a lot was mall of horror
http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/16772/mall-of-horror
Although that was basically about running from room to room until they fill up and get attacked.
Barely even lurking..

I like the look of the one TM posted, but I am cynical and wouldn't part with my cash unless I knew I was getting something in return plus the shipping is going to be expensive.
