Dark Eldar Razorwing diorama WIP

Postby Galador » Sun Feb 05, 2012 6:50 pm

Talked with Time about doing this, and decided to actually see if I could do it!! Hope everyone likes this, this is my first attempt at a diorama like model, as I dont plan on putting the razorwing on the table much but had to buy one to paint, and my son plays smurfs, so I love to pick on them when I can, so that is what the base Marine and Rhino wreckage will be. Any and all C&C will most definitely be welcomed and appreciated!!!

Wow 8O

Even better than I had pictured it when we talked about it!

The smoke trail from the misslie is very well done, so many time the smoke trails look odd, wierd or just off.
Keeping it all white is a nice touch, looks like a regular missile trail!

Loving the marine in his "Oh Crap!" moment!

Nice job so far, should look mint when finished! 8)

NOT THE FACE!!!!! lol

Looks good apart from firing the missile from such close range. But that can't really be helped in this case. I'm with TW on the smoke trail, very well done, and something wish I could do.

Good job so far bud!

Smoke trail was real easy Cain, all it is is a bit of thin modeling wire, covered with a cotton ball.

There's no kill like overkill!

It looks ace but I agree with Cain on firing a missile that size so close!

Nice, but personally I think the missile angle spoils it a little. I'd have put the Razorwing nose down and had a longer base, or dropped the trail and changed the angle to look more like a bomb being dropped.

I think it looks like the razorwing fired the missile before this point and was in the process of completing it run and pulling up.

Maybe the angle of the missile is a bit extreme, but there probably is no other way to attach it to the diorama.

The other way I was thinking I scrapped cause it didnt look good. I was going to run some wire out of the engines with cotton balls like the missle back behind the Razorwing, and then bend the one wire down into a smoke trail for the missle so that it had a farther flight path, but it just looked goofy when I tried it.

Could try a more horizontal approach, and have the missle creating a sonic boom instead and use that to support it?

Something like

How about going with a much longer base split into 2 parts? One part for the Razorwing on it's own, the other an extension in front of it with the marine on - that way you get to use it with the small base in games, and have the long diorama base for display when it's not being used.
