GW (sickly) green counters

The old thread was quite some time ago, nice reminder of how lax I have been.
In any event, I finally got the 6 banner markers from the GW counter set finished. I wanted to be able to use them for a variety of appications, so I gave them colors that I thought would make them stand out on the table, numbered them 1-6, and when I sprayed them with Dullcote (matte varnish) I masked the bases so that they would not get dulled down. I had left them as unpainted plastic because I like the way the color stands out.

What do you think?

Thanks Jimster!

Probably the 'run' and 'fall back' markers. I'm putting together a match of kill-team with someone new to the game (even newer than me! ) and I'm trying to concentrate on some terrain and the markers that will be needed. I'm also trying to figure out how I want to do the "skull" counters. I thought I could use them to designate activated brute squads. The banners I plan to use to show the aware brute squads.
After that, we'll move on to CP, so I am working on an intact building (inspired by Tim's batrep!) as a center piece of terrain, possibly an objective.

they look great mate! :D

the white stripes are really neat - did you mask them with tape or do them free hand?

cheers :)

Thanks Tim!
I freehand painted the white stripes first, didn't have to be too careful, then I masked the stripes with tape and painted in the red. The decals are off the SM vehicle transfer sheet.

You want to look for something called "painter's tape". Over here it comes in a blue color in various widths. It has less "tack" than other tape and doesn't peel off the paint underneath.
When I use it, I mask off what I want, and press the tape down to make sure the paint doesn't "bleed" under the edges. I try not to slop the paint all over the tape, and I peel it off before the paint has completely dried, this way the dried paint doesn't chip off at the edge of the tape. Gives a nice crisp line.

mmm...a line of crisps.

Anyway... they look great. I've still not got round to clipping out the stuff off the first sprue, let alone the second one. God I'm lazy. At least I now know it's possible (to paint them and have them look good...not to cut them out) :)
