The 'Rust' is not actually rust. It's worn down gold.
Here is how i did it. Or at least how I think I did it.
'Twas a while ago.
Usually for my gold I just do..
-Layer 1:1 VG Charred Brown VG Brassy Brass
-Thin watery layer VG Charred Brown in the crevices.
-Highlight with pure VG Brassy Brass highlighting raised areas.
-Wash
GW Devlan mud.
-Sometimes I pick out the extreme edges with a lighter silvery metallic...
But this time I changed it up to make it look more worn.
I think I did this... Not too sure.
-Base coat VG Charred Brown
-Layer 1:1 VG Charred Brown VG Brassy Brass
-Watery layer VG Charred Brown (a bit thicker than a usual glaze) in the crevices and to add grime.
-Stripple 1:1 VG Charred Brown VG Brassy Brass on the raised areas and to simulate ware.
-Watery layer VG Charred Brown (a little thicker) in the crevices and to add grime.
-Stripple/Drybrush very lightly
GW Boltgun metal to simulate further ware.
-Wash
GW Devlan mud
Or at least that's how I would do it again if asked to try the effect again.
Ork Watchtower was done mostly with an airbrush with which I unintentionally achieved a great effect that I surprised myself with.
Can't multi-quote...
But thanks all for the warm welcome.
It's great to be here!
And I do plan to enter the objective marker comp. I already have one mapped out...
Objective markers are something I really like doing...
