Thanks guys. Unfortunately I can't work on them for 3-4 weeks (I do it at a mate's flat as I moved out of my house when I put it up for sale, moving back in though thanks to UK economy :( )

Anyway:
On another forum I'm in a Tale of 4 (although we have eight) Gamers with Renegade Militia, so here's the Militia for my first Armoured Fist (platoon not a prerequisite in the Renegade List):

Cheers. (I'd have said that before, but it felt like spamming TBH).

Painted The Tainted for a competition (the point of which was to try something new/different/challenging as opposed to win). Not entirely happy with the outcome, but I'll be asking for advice once the competition is resolved (so it isn't technically finished), apologies for the quality of the photos (daylight bulb, but no natural light isn't good for a mostly black model):

Nearly finished this guy (How long? Don't go there :) ):

(Horns, one more skin layer, gems/sigils, feet, eyes left)

The good news is I got a lampstand with a daylight bulb set up next to a desk with a lovely new paint station on, so I won't have to wait until I have time at the weekends to paint now.... :)

Oh my word....it's a miracle....I actually finished a model    (ok, the base needs static grass, but the black on the edge is still wet :) )

Can't quite get the right lighting...I may take my daylight bulb through and add that to the mix :( (difference in colour is just photoshop's "autocolour" function, no flash was used)

I need way more practise at horns, but I was able to save them from disaster with a very watered down layer of Chestnut Ink to blend the colour bands together (which is good news, as I wanted to try a similar thing on my Tainted where the highlights are a little too heavy).

Managed some pics a bit closer to real life (albeit with some shaky hands *sighs at photographic ineptitude*):

Lady Gaenor Ignacia of the House of Jane is done:

(Don't actually have an IG army to use her in...maybe she'll appear in my Inquisitor's retinue for the time being -props for spotting name silliness).

Your dogged determination to finsih those minis shames me :) (currently taking a 2 month brake from the frustrating sillyness of painting)

The Tzeentch warrior looks great as does the Lady. The green and red work nicely together, separated by the black.

All three look nice! Very well done.
Your picture taking problem can be solved by the use of an inexpensive tripod to keep the camera still. Then your photography will come up to the level of your painting! :)

Thanks guys (meant to thank you earlier, but was hoping to get another model up).

What would be "inexpensive" in the tripod market? £15?

I actually lucked out by getting one for free. My brother in law had a mounting bracket for a video surveillance camera that he didn't need so I "inherited" it! 8)
I've seen posts where people were able to get cheap tripods at dollar stores or garage sales.
I did a quick search on amazon and found these.
Anything like these should work fine. Looking forward to seeing the next model!

If its just shaky hands (and not that the camera needs to stay static for ages, or something with a spirit level etc) wouldn't just a clump of books do?
The simplest tripod, to me, is just jamming my elbows about a foot apart on a non slippery surface and waiting till I exhale to take a couple of pictures, 1 will be ok.
(Slightly more complex you could speed up the shutter speed of your lens, but i know alot of cameras in micro mode have that stuff preset, might make your image darker/less detailed)

Hmmm....maybe I missed the cheapest ones on the UK site (hence my "£15"). Ta.

 Me too! :) I didn't like the way the metal came out (probably should learn to do it without drybrushing), so got to redo it.

Well, unfortunately I was taking portrait shots (as opposed to landscape), and the loops for the strap stop me resting it steady. :(

TBH given the cost of the camera, £15 for a tripod isn't much of an issue (and just goes to show that no matter the level of technology, humans still let the process down :) )

I have to ask  Does the other side (rotating the portrait shot 180) also have a difficult edge?
But I guess it would be top heavy even then.Sounds like a purchase is required.

CMON gives a review of one for 5$, heres the review http://www.coolminiornot.com/article/aid/85 No idea about availability here.
Also advocates a cable shutter release- to stop juddering when taking pics
