Well, payday this week, so I'll look into Tripods* (cheers for the advice guys).

Currently working on:
Image
Half will be done in my Black Legion colours, half in my Militia colours.
EDIT: that's half the planes, not half of each plane :)

And:
Image
That's the High Elf SC Caradryan. I will be attempting my first real freehand in painting flames on the bottom of the cloak, which should be........interesting.

Rather than the classic "all-white" HE look, I intend to paint the tunics of units to match their province - I haven't decided which Province my Core troops will be from yet, it'll either be Chrace (as I have 2 units of White Lions most of the time), or one (or more) of the Provinces not represented by a unique unit.

*Too easy people, too easy.... :)

HIgh elves (shivers) I inherited a giant cardboard box of the one pose ones still on spru.. a nightmare of an ebay..
Tripod wise..I was inspired by your post.. I looked around..I'm tempted by this one
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hama-4024-Mini- ... 07&sr=1-11
Ignore the whole £32s crap they are a fiver, and all the retailers either sell them at a penny pluss 4.99 postage, or charge a fiver and throw in free postage. You get what you pay for.. but you know.. (I checked with a friend on digi darkroom and he said that screw slot is the same guage for all cameras (one size fits lall) for the price I'm going to give it a try.)

Nah I got questionably done by a third party (like someone after too much rohepnol) (not Mr6) who sold them.. I ended up with a fiver for about 40 of them after 'costs'. (they were nasty anyway, all either with spear one pose or with bow one pose, i know you'd want better :))

Ranked up the and with sheilds the spearmen look fine, the archers are ok but a bit heavily armoured for my taste, I also have hundreds of the goblin spears and archers as well!

Any reason why? (I have quite a few from my MkI n00b HE army from '93 when I first started GW).

Yes. I'd like some very cheap models for my army. I've wanted to have a high elf force for 15 years. I've got all the army books and have all my hero models. I've just never got round to buying any troops. Looking at GW, the boxsets don't come in quite the right size (I'm going for a fixed army list with little excess stuff) and are now way too expensive. Ebay etc has kept up with the rising costs. The core of my force will be archers and spearmen (despite evryone complaining they are crap)

How odd. I won't touch spearmen generally, as the units they're effective against basically rely on your opponent letting you walk an infantry unit up to them.

At least with archers, I can reduce the effectiveness of fast cavalry units and on some units, killing one model is enough to remove a rank bonus.

They still both cost too much IMO.

I guess it depends how much you play and against what opponents. I rarely play and when I do it's against Wolflord Havoc's rats. Archers don't tend to kill enough of them but spearmen stand some chance of competing.

That makes sense. Skaven are the only book I'd definitely take them against. There are other lists I'd probably use them against, but I'd need an inkling that the list type (infantry based TK/VC/O&G/Empire, possibly WE and non-WAAC DoC) was hitting the board. For all-comers lists I take 2x10 Archers. I just see a battle line of 2xWL and 1xPG as more flexible and reliable.

Ah, the minimum core. Which is a shame really. It shows that there is a problem with the book when people routinely ignore the core in order to have a decent chance of winning. All the high elf armies I've seen recently do the minimum core archers and don't use spearmen. I just wanted to have a more 4th ed style force (and be bloody minded stubborn too!)
