They seem to forget the rules they apply to army design when the come to HE...don't know why.

Take last edition, Skaven, Chaos, DE, Empire, O&G for starters all have equally valid reasons for having an I@C style rule......yet only HE got handicapped by it.

The main continuous idea is that HE seem to be priced as an elite army, but they don't have the rules/stats to perform at the points costs they're given. If someone offered me a HE spearman or a Dwarf warrior, it's the Dwarf 9 times out of 10. If the want it to be an elite army, then they need to power them up with more than ASF. Compare the new Saurus with the spearman....I'd take Saurus every time at those relative points values. (Actually, IMO they should have been 8 points rather than better). They basically admitted the problem by changing the FoC.

What we ended up with is a unit that will spank other T3 infantry out of sight, and give up a lot of VPs to anything else it encounters.

I don't think it helps that there's an underlying issue with spears in Fantasy, I personally think they should be allowed to parry like handweapons.

And multi-role units seem to get hit hard in both systems. They always get priced as if they're really good at both shooting and CC, when the reality is that they're usually average or just above (bar Obliterators). Sea Guard are not 4 points more useful (including shield) than spearman, 2 points at a stretch.

Been working on the Ogryn this weekend:

For reference, that brown on the hood is Scorched Brown, so I think it's probably all showing lighter than it is in RL.

Assembled:

Autocannon is the choice of turret, but also put together the ML one for when using the standard IG Codex.

Side shot (other side is the same):

Still need to cover the damage with a little bit of sand, which I intend to paint red as if the symbol is corrupting the metal.

Yeah. Pain in the butt to stick on as it bonds instantly with super glue, normally line it up with a pair of tweezers and have a knife on hand to lever it up if I miss.

Get a piece of masking tape, just a small bit, enough to hold in position, maybe 2 depending on how dextrous you are, align the symbol into place and using a cheap very thin super glue let ti run around the edges of the brass, it will also go behind the brass. Be careful to try and not let it touch the masking tape if you can. Have a piece of cotton or other non shedding fibre cloth and wipe off any instant excess running glue, once dry remove tape.

It sounds much more cumbersome than it is to do. You want the very thin glue as the capillery action will take it under the brass without needing to leave a gap for it.

I got bored/fed up of not playing an army with a 5th Ed Codex, so I figured I'll work on the non-marine elements of the Tyrant's Legion whilst I wait for FW to release the Astral Claws gubbinz so I can do a SM list.

So:
Master of the Armoury = Legion Centurion
Cadian Command = Auxilia Command
Corpse Taker = Apothecary with Fabius Bile backpack
Dissection Servitors = not sure atm....
Renegade Marauders = not sure, might use Orks (nobz on 40mm for Brutes), might use Vraks renegades (Ogryn Zerks for Brutes), might use Necromunda models (IG Ogryns for Brutes)....
Legion Auxilia = Catachans + Mordian Sergeant for the Prefect
Auxilia Armsmen = Cadians
Auxilia Fire Support = Catachan HWT + Mordian Sergeant
Auxilia Heavy Ordnance Battery = use Cadians for crew

The dividing line between Cadians and Catachans is whether the unit has a 5+ or 6+ save.

I can't decide which colour scheme to use though:
1) Reverse Astral Claws: blue fatigues and grey or metallic flak armour
2) Standard Astral Claws: grey fatigues and blue flak armour

The reverse scheme sounds better. Seen guard painted with blue flak armour. Not very impressive.

What about:
grey trousers (Catachan & Cadian)
blue wifebeater (Catachan)/blue "jumper" (Cadian)
silver flak armour (Cadian)
?

For reference this is the scheme I'm trying to create some unity with:

I could do silver armour on grey fatigues, just not sure how it would look.
