Not there rules, there look, the fact you have to paint the legs before assembly, nope I just hate fixing the upper and lower hulls together, which Idiot designed these, I didn't know GAV had created plastic kits!!!!!!

Sorry, assembled 2 over the last 2 days and I just had to say it.............

you are right...they are not the best kit in the world...

the kits which really suck though are the combined metal and plastic ones... like the previous dev squad. Which idiot thought that was a good idea?

Well technically the landspeeder is a combined set due to those silly engine pieces that most people just leave out :D
I've got 5, 4 are fairly well put together..1 I bought off ebay (well actually 3 came from ebay but 1 stands out) and has 4mm gaps all the way round the front that that nice bumper thing can't even start to hide..and I'm not taking it apart because as OP said it'll still end up looking a bit poo if I don't dedicate a day to it.

I used a little set of trigger clamps that I got ages ago to help with holding things together while gluing and they work really well, all 4 of mine were pretty easy to put together :)

This is why I try to hunt down the older METAL speeders. Not only are they easier to put together, they have a satisfying heft to them - oh, and are FREQUENTLY cheaper than the plastic kit that replaced them.

I've managed to pick up three of them for $90 over the last few years. Three of the plastics would have cost me $150.

For the Typhoon, I fitted the missile launchers inverted - looks sleeker, and removes the tendency for them to fall off due to the top heaviness :)

http://www.ageofstrife.com/gallery/Spack66/IMG_2160

It's listed as a Tempest in the gallery as with the addition of an assault cannon I can use the Tempest rules from Imperial Armour Volume 2, which has the added benefit of having proper missile launchers with the ability to fire Krak giving it some longer range anti-vehicile punch :)

As well as the assault cannon being removeable, the typhoon launchers are magnetised to so I can field the speeder as a tornado or normal version too.

Looks good Spack. The missile launchers do look more streamlined. There are probably a few who would say it looks like you would shoot the step off on the first missile launch, but not me
I try to magnetize as much as possible too. I can't afford 5 or 6 variations of each model!

Nice work Spack. But isn't the Tempest a single person vehicle. ie no gunner and an enclosed cockpit? Is the side gunner valid for the Tempest?

I received a number of 'poorly' assembled Landspeeders in trade and thought about converting a couple to Tempest models. This now gives me some ideas. :)

BTW, the main issue with the models I got are there are no drivers or gunners or gunner weapons. 8O

The heavy bolter is removeable too - so weapon wise it's close enough to count. And power armour crew means speeders don't count as open-topped, so that's the enclosed compartment sorted ruleswise :P I think the FW Tempest is sealed like that as it's easier to cast the parts.

Find somebody who bought Scout Biker sets - they'll have 3 spare plastic bike riders per set which will do the job, or use spare plastic marine torsos. Your speeders have crew legs, right? Or were the seats/interiors not fitted either?

I have spare torsos/heads should you need to get your hands on some quick :)

You could always use the gunners from the Rhino (and related vehicle) kits, couldn't you? Haven't checked but they should fit.

Hmmm I like that Landspeeder version Spack, it looks good with the missiles like that.

Yes, The Rhino bodies would work, and yes the seats were installed so I have the lower halves. What I really am missing are the 3 Hvy Bolters and 3 Meltas I should have gotten in the trade for them.

This is mainly why I thought about remodeling them as Tempests.
