Sludge Beast ("count as" Beast of Nurgle)

Postby LordMalekTheRedKnight » Tue Aug 26, 2008 4:54 pm

Hey all :)

i have finished buiding my "Sludge Beast" for my Plague Zombie CP force("counts as" Nurgle Daemons), using the Fen Beast WHFB model (from the Albion campaign) that Ben sent over. the Beast is summoned from the sewers and formed out of congealed filth and rotting flesh - ingame he will "count as" a Beast of Nurgle with Noxious Touch.

unfortunately the original head was missing (lost in transit, or maybe dropped on the hotel bar floor at the WHW weekend ), but Dan kindly donated a replacement (a 3rd ed CSM Possessed head, with 2 faces fused together). i used some Greenstuff and a 60mm base to complete the model.

the deadline i had set myself was to get him built, based and undercoated, dried and packed ready for use tomorrow evening. im going to undercoat him this evening, so he should be ready in time. :D

here he is:

when i get round to painting him, he will be mostly like the GW version of the Fen Beast (dark green, mainly).

thoughts?

cheers :)

~ Tim
p.s. once he is undercoated (or maybe base coated dark green), i will take a pic of him with the Zombies.

That looks great Tim. Very... shambling, which seems apt. If you have any, some water effects on the base would look great and I'd suggest some gloss varnish spots on the model so show glistening slime spots :D

cheers - thats what i was going for when i chose the model. :D

shame they are so hard to find - a unit of 4 of those (all different due to gifts, making them a complex multi-wound unit, for maximum wound-spreadability) might just convince me to make a 1500 pt competitive list...

ive got no Water Effects, but i was planning on using gloss varnish. :)

ive also got a tube of Bostik and i was thinking of using some to make slime dripping from his raised 'hand', after he is painted. :D

thanks, although IIRC it was Dan's idea, so he deserves the credit. :P

cheers :)

actually... looks like i was getting ahead of myself: i just checked the codex (was going to write the list for fun) and it turns out you can only give Beasts 1 Gift per unit (no Icons or Instruments, for some reason). :(

oh well, looks like i will stick to CP then. ;)

(at least until the new IG codex comes out...)

If you want more of the Fen Beasts, one of the little known shops in my town has three (I believe) of them still in blisters on the wall. I don't recall the price, but it is MSRP from when they were released.
