How about doing them glowing? Say a white base coat with a blue shading wash, then highlighted up with light blues?

Or a dark coat hightlighted up to white, like this: http://www.beastsofwar.com/groups/daemo ... e=2&num=15

Or something like the army of the dead from LotR? http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/conte ... d=12300001

im thinkin maybe flaming skull heads in place of the helmets like ghost rider or really darkly painted armour with fiery ey lenses and burning weapons. rather than the usual ghostly colourschee, but im not sure any of that would look right in the grey knights army. maybe doin them up as L.O.D. crossed with grey knights? ......

I think you do need a strong non-grey colour just because it's Grey Knights, and you want them to stand out. What about a strong purple-based theme to associate them with the Warp?
