Weathering Powders

Postby KInG » Fri Mar 07, 2014 3:04 pm

I've never used these before. So far my best weathering has come straight out of the new Typhus Corrosion GW tub. Its a very thin dark colour with a few grains of very fine material in it.

But on my Sherman I wanted it to look clogged with mud, both wet and dried.

Here's the results so far:

For this I added the weathering powder to the typhus corrosion and mixed it up. This made the mix like watery paste which I applied with my best wash brush :( ?%$!

Next though I want to add some dust to the tank like this one:

I've been advise just use soft large brush and fingerprint dust it on and then fix with hairspray or matt spray from long distance so it doesn't wet it.... any more advice along those lines?

The weathering powder I have is dark brown and rust coloured from Humbrol. Im a little worried I don't have the right colour. Will try the dark brown and see what effect that gives. I can always buy the lighter colour and go again if its not light enough.

I get very good results with this product.

The mud weathering stick I kind of glop onto a ceramic tile and then apply it to the model using a short bristle brush.

The weathering powders I apply with a cotton swab and with an old brush. You don't have to apply the matte spray from too far away, I've never had it blow the weathering powder off the model.
