Want to show off your painted figures? Got a cool conversion? Need some ideas?

What NID is this, (tyranid OOP)

Postby killmaimburn » Thu Dec 22, 2011 10:33 am

A mate recently opened his attic to me, I got a few copies of 2nd ed blood bowl, some tree giant etc teams..a copy of dungeon quest (apparently the worst game ever)
and these mofos.. what are they?
I'm thinking of using them as zoenthropes (I really need to work out whether I'm in or out on nids)

I believe so??
Base (C) says 1992 if that helps.

If its 1992, then they're unlikely to be GW - that would be post slottabase, wouldn't it?

And every GW/citadel figure I've seen, alongside the copyright, tends to also list either citadel or GW with it.

Those look like they might be Scotia Grendel figures from the Kryomek range. Off to find some piccies to confirm ...

EDIT: Wee, spot on! Take a look at the left hand fig in this set: http://www.scotiagrendel.com/Products/i ... ts_id=3493

I recognised the design, based very heavily on Aliens, as I picked up some Kryomek figs in the early 90s. gallery/v/Spack/Spack06/Spack18/ The final one, Drone with Acid Jet, always struck me as a GW law suit waiting to happen, as the human torso is almost identical to the RT era Terminator Captain (the photo sucks so you can't see any detail, but I can take better pics and/or bring it along to the next meet if anyone is interested).

Yeah, they are kryomek models, made by Fantasy Forge originally (in Scotland), now done by Scotia Grendel.

Helions from the Kryomek forces (Kryomek was the game, it was also the alien faction. Nexus were the humans). Little more than mobile mouths.

Much like Ripper swarms - only Fantasy Forge did them first (GW tyranids were still in the bucktoothed Advanced Space Crusade mould at this point).
That is not dead which can eternal lie

and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die
