2010 project log for everyone

Postby mattjgilbert » Sat Dec 19, 2009 6:31 pm

Use this thread to discuss what your collecting, painting and modeling plans for 2010.

Then at the end of the year we can review the list and see who managed to do the best! This thread should be for general plans and comments/updates. Still create and use other threads for specific things you are working on and then report back here for the overall progress against the grand scheme of things.

I'll start off.

My plans for 2010 are:

1. Daemons - collect the last few units and get them painted up so the army is complete (as much as you ever complete an army). The existing plog will track this.
2. Orcs and Goblins - deal with all the remaining models awaiting a lick of paint. Review the collection in light of a rumoured 8th ed WHFB and new O&G book. The existing plog will track this.
3. Go back to the Nids I started as the dipping experiment and expand on them some more. The existing plog will track this.
4. Spend a weekend or two blitzing all my unfinished Necron so they are all complete. Will need a new plog.
5. Empire - Paul's army is round my shed and doing nothing. I want to paint it up and add some units. It also needs a review in the same way as the O&Gs if the rumours are true. Will need a new plog.
6. WoC... add some units and make a start on painting the army up. I don't expect to get near to finishing this though. Will need a new plog.
7. Marines - spend some time and effort painting the last few units. Add an Ironclad and maybe some more tanks. The existing plog will track this.

Wishlist (nice to do if I have time)

AI - assemble and paint my ork fleet and all the AI terrain I have. Will need a new plog.
Finnish all the bits and pieces of terrain I have lying around half complete or not started. The existing plog will track this.

...so not too much then! Looking at it now that's quite an aggressive list... I wonder how well I'll do?

The main thing I need to do is finish off my Zombies - I need to stick body parts to "Morph" (my clay over wire figure) to make a corpse gollem (counts as Ku'Gath). Some other models will need a splash of paint too.

After that, I have a few mini-projects that I want to do, when I get a chance - mostly inidividual models for my (long term) AdMech project.

I dont know what else I will be getting up to yet, since I dont know what I am going to be playing once we move.

(Oh, I am working on an EDH - Elder Dragon Highlander - deck for Magic too)

Plans 2010

Orks, this is the year of the Greenskins for me, they have been sat partly assembled and bits and pieces finished for too long. More details once I have deboxed them and know what awaits me, but I have a lot of Orkies I know...

6mm Napoleanics, painting British and French figures and making terrain.

6mm ACW, now Rapier make them I have no excuse, so Union and Confederates, and some buildings/terrain for them.

20mm Very British Civil War, paint more figures and tanks etc and continue making buildings etc for them.

28mm Napoleanic Skirmish, I have the figures done for this, apart from a few oddments, so need to crack on with terrain etc.

28mm Old West, I have one band of desperados already done, but need the lawmen to take them on, and to paint up the Rapier Skeletal Cowboys and Indians for use with them as well. And of course the requisite buildings and terrain.

After which I shall need to build and extension to house all the buildings...

Finish Building my Space Wolves - 40 Grey Hunters, 18 Long fangs, 15 odd scouts, 2 drop pods and 2 Rhino's + Njal

Thinking of buying a new Land raider kit for the army (I already have an LR and a Crusader...so this can wait) and a Vindicator.

Buy a Skaven Doomwheel - build it and a Screaming bell thingy (that I bought originally) then paint them and finish painting the remaining skaven

Paint my Chaos Aeronautica squadron!

I still have to finish building a shadowsword and might have a hunt through my Guard bits to build another couple of heavy weapon squads or possibly some more inf. squads.....

Lots n lots to do and not sure what order to do it in..

Marines - finish painting.. a few tac squads, characters and 2 tanks..
Nids - lots n lots to assemble
Daemons - Just need painting.. May buy some extra models.. dont have any flamers as of yet.. and I want a few more crushers
Tau - lots to build still.. for some reason I find firewarriors boring to assemble lol.
Orks - got a lot of love for these guys.. taking my time and making conversions here n there..
No plans to start any other armies till all the above are completed.

Goblins and vampire counts both in the early stages..

Retribution - all assembled just need painting which Im hoping to do over the holidays.. may get a few of the newer units also..

Blood angels:
Get my current list painted, as I have all the models for it (uses vanilla rules for now). Update once the new codex is out.

decide on what and how I really want to play them, or whether I just want to keep them as my "buy stuff that looks cool" army, and slowly carry on adding to them.

Paint up at least the BA termies from the SH set.

Paint up my AI stuff.

thats the majority of it. BA might go faster now that I have some army painter red spray on its way.

My list for so far
W40k- build nurgle thunderhawk and convert baneblade for a freind, Paint SM scouts for another freind, help my son build a blood angel army, Strip and repaint my BA. Actually play some games.
WHFB- collect and paint 3000pts wood elves, I know wardancers are in the pipeline and there was another box from nottingham arrived in the pre christmas post, I'll try sculpting a treeman. I'll also probably build a dark elf and WoC army as I've got a couple of units kicking around for those. Actually play some games.
Thinking this should keep me busy through January.

Tyranids. Lots of them.
All the new releases, and some more forgeworld stuff. I might even get the biotitan done. Also some second hand bits to round out the collection. I dare not post a complete list. I'll get sectioned.

In the queue: finish off deathwatch squad, finish zombie horde, re-arrange imperial guard.

Also, I might pick up the new warlord Queek and deathmaster models for my skaven. But to be honest I'm not actually bothered about buying the new army book. Fantasy is deader than my undead here.

Looks like people are going to very busy in the New Year.

For me a number of Projects, some based round campaign weekends and tournaments that I'll be attending.

Warhammer Doubles Tournament and Wrath of Nagash Campaign Weekend - Skaven Clan Pestilens Army starting with 750pts building to 2250pts including a Plague Furnace and a Plague Catapult (got to decide what to make it from).

Siege of Terra Campaign Weekend - Pre-Heresy Worldeaters (3000pts), got a Chaos Warhound Titan for my 40th Birthday to build and paint, plus a Lucius Pattern Drop Pod.

Tyranid Force explansion - with the release of the new codex, add 3 Trygons/Mawlocs plus Gargoyles and anything else that takes my fancy to build the force up to atleast 5000pts apocalypse size.

Beastmen Army - depending on the changes to the army in Feb, make the force legal and of course add new some of the new models released.

Long term
Finish stripping and re-paint a Harlequin Army
Re-paint my Mordian Guard Army
Continue painting Club force of Red Corsairs

My plans are the same as they are every year: paint something! And as usual, the end result will likely be very little as something else will take over (such as the past 3 months spending free time trying to get my bathroom sorted out, that's a project log and a half right there!) :P

I'd like to try and get started on my Death Korp though, I doubt I'll get anything done before the Feb meetup though.

This is year Tau for me. Tau, tau, tau, tau, tau, then some more tau.

Maybe some Epic too...

In the ever on-going Imperial Guard expansion into all forms of renegade goodness, I hope to...

Get three command squads and a magus retinue to round out the stealer cult.
Repaint and add a few hovercraft vehicles, do the long awaited aerosan rough riders for the renegade guard list.

Need to paint my 7th nurgle ogryn and build 6 mining servitors (arco flags) + a rat ogre "Karamazov".

Make 7 empire flaggellants as battle psycher squad and a primaris for tzeench.

Do a "fallen angel" contingent of battle sisters for the delectation of Slaanesh...

1. Start, collect, paint and complete a fantasy army.
It depresses me to find out that the last time I can claim to have finished 2000pts of fantasy was Febuary 2003. As that army was recycled into a Lost and the Damned force nearly 2 years back and i've started painting 4 armies since then that have gone nowhere I really need tofind domething that speaks to me for both gaming and painting.

2. Add the nessessary models to my ultramarines to take part in the next Tempus Fugatives weekend in May. I've no hope of getting to the fantasy event in March, so this will be the start.

3. Go to a GT event this year. Turn off all sense of fair play and realism but try it once just to see if it's as bad as the legends tell.

4. Finish my 1500pts of Obliterator marines, then start a Tau army.
When you wish upon a star, your dreams can come true.
Unless it's a meteorite falling to Earth, which will destroy all life, then you're pretty much hosed no matter what you wish for.
Unless it's death by meteorite.

1. As other have mentioned, add more fists ready for the siege of terra campaign weekend.

2. Paint 1500pts of red corsairs for our club legion.

3. Add some more eldar to my current army to take it to 4 - 5 grand

4. Possibly start a new fantasy army, a dark elf corsiar raiding party led by an old dark elf roleplay character or a practically all skirmish wood elf army. Decisions decisions.....
"Crom, i've never prayed to you before, i have no tongue for it.
No-one, not even you, will remember if we were good men or bad. Why we fought and why we died.
All that matters is that two stood against many, thats whats important.
Valor pleases you lord Crom so grant me one thing, grant me revenge.
And if you do not listen....then to hell with you!"
