2010 Quarter 3 Project Log For Everyone

Postby mattjgilbert » Thu Jul 01, 2010 10:03 am

OK, I'm carrying over the stuff I failed to do last quarter and adding a few more bits

So my list for Q3 looks like

  • Finish my scout bike squad
  • Some marine characters + sternguard
  • AoS tactical squad
  • My last large ruin
  • AI ork aircraft
  • Some AI terrain
  • More orcs if I get a chance

I'll finish the bikers off and then do the AoS marines as these have a deadline for completion.

On my to do list:

+5 Sanguinary Guard

+5 Death Company

+Chaplain Lemartes

+5 Terminators

+1 Landraider Crusader

+1 Baal Predator

+1 Razorback

+Find somewhere for me and my regular opponent to play so we don't go stir crazy playing against each other all the time, it's getting ridiculous, both of our lists are tailored solely to batter each other.

The capillary towers were a scracth-build? Any chance of pics or a how-to?

Finish building my Warmachine force is my main goal, including what I intend to be a rather extravagant conversion of an extreme juggernaut.

Also, maybe paint some BA/Orks.

Very nice Angelwing. Those capillary towers look fantastic!
The colors work well together and the details on the brown carapace are excellent.
Good job!

EDIT: Just wanted to throw this in here. I'm working on a Sternguard Veteran squad. Which do you think looks better, the green shoulder with the gold trim, or the one done in the chapter colors of blue and yellow? Marine in chapter colors shown for contrast. Thanks.

While I like the green/white combination I think you need to tie it in with your chapter colours so need to do the red.

I like the "stoney" look of the armour and the green.
Maybe green eyes/kneepads, etc to blend them in.
Might be a bit of a departure though, as Matt said.

@ DaBoss, the one on the extreme right is the 'regular' marine.

@Matt, I thought so too. While I like the way the green/gold looks, the chapter color ones set it off nicely as well.

@Ruffian, I actually plan on there being a bit of a departure from "standard" chapters. My tac marines are dark blue, armor units are a steel grey, Land Speeders are light grey, scouts are dark grey, Librarian is dark green and the sternguards are in the white with green trim.
This goes along with the fluff for my chapter that they were formed from the remnants of many different chapters after a devastating battle against the Necrons. They retained some of the colors to honor and respect their former chapters (which they have no memory of due to a Necron mind weapon).

It also keeps me from getting bored by having to paint all the models the same color scheme, and makes them stand apart on the table, err, battlefield!

Still haven't finished the second russ and haven't even started the vendetta yet ... bit burned out at the mo.
That's a point, the psycher choir and zombie sargeants too.

But, I am starting to get that Slaaneshi "itch" (oooh errr missus  ) as I have 7 new noise marines (old style metals) and some slaaneshi shoulder pads and icons.
The night lords have fallen out of favour with this codex, so they may have a bit of a change of loyalty ... even poo monster (flight daemon prince) may be about to change.

There is quite a pile of chaos marines idling in a box, a rhino, a vindicator too.

Know the feeling. Sometimes you get a bit overwhelmed, need to take a small break and recharge the modeling batteries! :D
