Slow progress, but have got two more carrion crawlers assembled.
The ten pack spotters among you might notice the extra comms arrays on the command tank.
It has an extra aerial and radar dish on the rear right and a commander with auspex and vox (can't see as it's undercoated).

Need to get the special weapon guys to go in these things done now.

UPDATE!
As if by magic, this happened!!!

If you fine folks remember, I built my first Stormraven last year before GW even announced the release of theirs. It was based on the Hunter Killer from Terminator Salvasion. Well I have started working on my 2nd SR. This one uses the GW kit modified to look like my original. I have used the engin pods from the Hunter Killer toy again... But it would be entirely possible to just use the ones from the kit. Appart from that, all I have used is plasticard.

Tomorrow I will start using modeling clay to fill gaps, smooth out and fix detail etc. But this is a sneek peek of what I have done so far.

That's lookin sweet m8. I must admit I prefer the VTOL styling over the "Brick with wings" of the GW Stormraven kit....

No worries. Got into the habit of noting things down to make stuff easier to replicate :) also means I can keep netbook on the oainting table ;)

RED
-----
3:1 Mechrite Red Basecoat (Airbrushed)
6:1:1 Mechrite Red / Tentactle Pink Sprayed from above (directional lighting)
1:0 Heavy Wash Baal Red
1:0 Heavy Wash Baal Red
1:0 Heavy Wash Baal Red
1:0 Wash Baal Red
1:0 line recesses badab black
1:0 sharp edges highlite thin blood red
1:1 sharp edges highlite thin blood red
1:1 sharp edges highlite thin blazing orange
1:1 sharp point highlites bleached bone
1:2 wash baal red - just to tone down the contrast

I guess you could replicate the airbrushed directional lighting with a subtle drybrush?

Cool ty. I'll remember that. At some point I'm planning on doin a few squads of BA successors to mix in with my own BA. Your recipy will work very well for a squad or 3 of Flesh Tearers. :)

FW flying ripper swarms. I have to say these are a complete pain in the rear. Very small and fiddly making them difficult to glue, small and brittle making mold line cleaning nearly impossible in the legs as well as proper release agent cleaning difficult, legs breaking off the sprue block in transit, tricky to drill the wire (1mm), bases a pain etc. They look nice but are a pain to store and coupled with poor game rules I really can't recommend this kit. I put off painting them for ages and simply haven't enjoyed them at all. I suspect I won't be using them very much except as desperate point fillers.

You've done well with them dispite the problems. Would be a shame not to put them to use.

Oh i'll probably slot them in when I play at home. I don't have the kit to transport these about safely. I'd only cry if one broke...gah!
I'll be honest, I could have done better with them, but I was sick of the sight of them cluttering my desk I just had to get them out of the way quickly.

Paint has been flung in random directions, like some vile dirty protest and has rekulted in ...

Not much more to do now the kommander and the special weaponers are about 30% done too.

Update Time....

Finished up and based Tyberos - and handed him over (at which point he was promptly dropped and made one-armed)!

Also finished and based up Huron for Lis

And made decent headway into the next character model, Lord Coteaz

Typically my camera batteries died - so pics of the bulk of the RS updates to follow on my log thread :)

Serious real life stuff has come up, so I can pretty much say that I'm paying no attention to my previously stated goals atm. If I do get back on the hobby horse in the next week or so, it may well be very different from the previously published plan ;)

Hope you can get back on the hobby horse soon Baragash.

Really nice figures as always Stu. I especially like Tyberos :)

I am currently working on 2 Dreads. A Librarian Furioso and a DC Dread using the metal Furioso.
