2012 Quarter 1 Project Log For Everyone

Postby mattjgilbert » Sun Jan 01, 2012 10:16 am

The first half of the quarter gives me a deadline for completing the undead. There's a KoW tournament mid-February which I'm hoping to get to. I'll also try to get the Mantic Orcs assembled so my mate Paul can paint them for me (to match the bulk of the army which he already did).

After that I'm not sure. I think at this stage I'll have to see how I feel when I get there. It would be good to finish off the Necrons or the Marines but I'm also keen to start trying Warpath and want to get the starter set there painted up.

We've been playing DKH quite a lot and I'd like to get those models painted up too. I also like Baragash's idea of mounting the models on clear plastic bases so you can still see the tiles underneath.

So undead first and then... well there are too many options! :)

In this quarter I intend to get most of my Phoenix Guard done as well as most of the characters for the army. This will then just leave me with a few Phoenix Guard, a handful of Swordmasters and the Dragon Princes which should be finished off in the next quarter to give me my first fully painted WH army (it's only taken 20 years!)

Well I opted for a 15 models a month approach without being specific. The Undead Rat is done, I've got an Ice Golem and 3 Ice Gamin half done and 10 Wraiths about a quarter done and all day Sunday plus tonight to crack on, so should be fine, worst case I have to finish them on the 1st of Feb.

Both pieces look nice Anegelwing. I like the weathering effects on the bastion.

Cheers all. There is plenty of detail that could be done to these two bits, but to be honest, they have spent so long on my to do list that I'm probably not going back to them. I have two more bits of old terrain to rebase and paint, plus all the old necromunda terrain to repair and base up, and I might be picking up some canal section terrain too.

After an interminable hiatus/grindingly slow progress, I have finally got back into painting Stargos nightlords!

The defiler, that has sat stubbornly on the table for months, now has the body, legs and arms done. Just the turret and ccw's to do.
One of the other defilers body and legs are just about finished, just some washes here and there and a bit of tidying up.

That's a point, Stargod decided to splash the cash and get extra dccw's, so for these 2, they will have those wierd tentacle power scourge type things and an additional front claw arm mounted on the turret!!!

Should look quite posh!

Am now casting anxious glances at the last 10 furies ... still need to fill the bases and attach wings.

I am dominating this thread now!

Second defiler has almost caught up, just needs some more gunmetal and that + the brass washing and tidying up.

Have assembled 8 of the furies, 4 are undercoated.
2 would not assemble, they looked like hunchbacks for some reason. :?

Oh yes, and Rangers have gone into administration.

Wow!
That defiler really looks great!
Nice colors and very sharp paint job.
Keep up the good work.

SO you know how I said I was going to try and not buy anything else to do until I had finished some other stuff? Well. I failed. Badly!
Purchased a few of the Pegasus gothic ruins kits as I fancied making another huge ruin. as you can see I have only laid down a basic template. But as it stands it won't sit on a 2' x 4' board. So will have to tweek it a bit. But I will crack on with it in amongst other bits and pieces that I am doing.

plenty of rubble and I have a metal scargophgos, (i think thats how its spelt?).
Plus maybe set one end at a slightly raise level to denote where the priest would give the service etc. Maye scratch build some damage pews as well.
