that's true cain.. I didn't realise they weren't in production anymore, and ur also right about the £££s. I even recommended to a customer in the shop, while talking about a new army and the costs involved that they maybe try getting the older units from second user sources and then top up the new units only from the shop...

I have bought from ebay myself, but always seem to get ripped off :(

and thx for the comments on the hounds... It took me, with regular breaks in between, and a night out for a meal last night, just two days to bash them 30 out.

The assault marine sergeant is still available from GW, in metal. Sadly there are two different sarge models and you get a random one, also its an eye watering £8.70 . I think I paid about £3 for mine, and got the particular model I wanted. Sure if I factor in my employment rate of pay in the time it took to strip the model back to 'new', it would have been cheaper to buy it new. If of course the 50 -50 chance of getting the model I wanted worked in my favour. It boggles my mind why GW do that for single packed blister model when the marine metal heavy weapons are all separate. However, the pleasure of bringing a knackered and unloved model back to life to fight again is part of the hobby for me. Its lovely to strip models of layers of paint and see it shining through again.
I'm currently painting a marine apothecary, part of the same ebay haul, and I'm due a metal 2nd ed cyclone terminator from a friends old army too.

That is very nice! The colors came out well and the detailing is just right.
Nice work.
