Year of the Pirate here for some reason.

First 6 painted! Still waiting for my base delivery though, so only almost finished...

I think might need eyes adding, not something I normally paint in.

I like the pirates :)

I'm doing tons (more than I've ever done I think) of painting at the moment. The only thing is... none of them are my models!

Yarrr,

Anything to avoid gaming :P

Due to child vomiting sleepiness I have actually greysprayed all my heroquest models, as the kids have decided they like it.

Once I stopped Dylan physically hitting an ork with his dwarf the game (first one in the book, the maze. skipped all the testing zone thingys) went smoothly.
Broodqueen found it a bit dull. But universally,I've found, people who've played other stuff (especially space crusade..)do consider other games superior in every way.Lilandra (who has played talisman, pontoon and dominion previously)realised she needed to trollpower level search for gold until she had enough for her barbarian to buy a shield to be wysiwyg with her model (advanced heroquest one). .. but yeah 4 year old dwarf beat up 2 orks and disabled a trap before escaping the maze having lots of fun.. (then spent the rest of the night vomiting).
So expect some 3 coats basic heroquest stuff soon (ish).
possibly may do KOW undead stuff after that as an adhoc expansion..
Barely even lurking..

Heroquest is on our (long) list of games to play again this year. The kids want to play it too.

I also want to paint the set first through... I cause my own problems.

yes.. yes she is.

As I say, I've yet to find someone over the age of 16 who isn't disappointed with it nowadays, strongly suggest just skipping it and playing space crusade instead, its internal balance is better (e.g. 2 lowly orks can insta death the mage player out the game V easily if the DM wants), the amount of stuff happening makes for a better game.
Exceptions;
I can teach a 4 year old to play it
If you still have any of the really exciting addons and just leap straight into them, (I got rid of my addons, hence the homebrewing)

All weapons painted, all green skin done once, its all about the leather jerkins and shoes now.. then a shed load of wash.. Should have some pictures by the weekend external events considering.

in honour of awesomematt, and in honour of christening all the clobber Lh has been slowly setting me up with, and for my kids who have actually taken an interest in geekdom...I decided to do a rush job (2Days) and paint them all Matt style (I used Lavado Wash dipping formula immersion)
ImageImage
Other dwarf, not done, wizard covered in enamel paint (this version for a £2 PDSA rescue one) gargorle balrog mutilated for spare parts(going to use an ogre) Chaos lords done ages back in a crappy black with silver drybrush with red eyes (just close your eyes and remember my chaos artifact and all the verdigris winsome ones and pretend I'm using those instead.

Those heroquest models look great. Simple paintjob brings them to life. The kids will love them.

Thanks peeps, painting models I knew were going to get
a) used
b) battered
helped break my painting block. Hopefully now its unlocked I might actually get around to painting some more stuff.
Currently musing
a) some sort of cemetary terrain diaorama using the KOW undead sprus.
b) space crusade monsters
c) all the walls for 40k (inc the aegis line)
any views/opinions? Any easy tutorials anyone know of for speed painting GW walls?
