2014 3rd quarter project log for everyone

Postby RotweillerofJustice » Tue Aug 19, 2014 7:32 pm

Couldn't see this so I thought I would kick it off as I've got a bit more time on my hands now that work is starting to slacken off.

And to start off I thought I would post up the broadside I have just worked on. I don't like the way GW have made them in the new kit so I waited until I could make one like the older MK's and came up with this. :-)

It's the missile weapons I don't like. Not enough dynamism in the poses for my liking. Your model reminds me of an old conversion I made to my original broad side (before I tore them asunder).

I like those. Must admit that I copied the FW design for my stock GW models. Used up all the missile pods making them fit on thd shoulders. :-)

Has the broadside changed base size?

Yes buddy. I think it's gone up to a 60mm base now.

Been a while since I posted anything not competition related. But I thought I'd add something I've just got finished last night.

A Colonial Viper MkII from the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica series. Kit produced by Revell.

The base clouded a little, and there was a close call when the transfer sheet got completely soaked. But I'm happy with the outcome generally.

Comments and Criticisms welcome as always.

Beautiful job Cain.

Very clean, nice detail, and the transfers all applied perfectly.

Well done on Starbuck as well, and the cockpit display looks great. Nice attention to detail!

Here we have the long awaited GW plastic trees. They are individually based so they can be moved around to accommodate models, or used to embellish other terrain pieces. Keeping them separate from their main bases also means they can be stored easily.

Looks nice Angelwing. The colors are rather alien looking which I'm sure goes along with your nid force!

Well colour wise I wanted them to fit in, but also stand out from the grey table I have. I got inspired to finally build them as the tyranid warlord traits has one that only works if you have some trees on the table. The red fits the nid weapons, but contrasts nicely with the carapace.
I have to say, standard of painting wise these don't stand up to close scrutiny, but they simply needed to get done as they have been hanging around in the painting queue for months, and sat in the loft un built for years.
