Crimson Fists log

Postby reaver13 » Fri Feb 06, 2009 7:51 am

I decided I would split up my two army logs since I have a new found love for painting Fists. Painting blue and red is certainly a welcome diversion from all the black. Anyways, C&C definately welcome as I get to be a novice all over again painting new colors/schemes.

Anyways, today's minis are a few bolter marines and a wip terminator. Hiden in the back is a headless Pedro who has enough detail to drive me crazy and take a break from painting him. And ignore the Templar with the flamer... he's just there to ensure I don't get out of line and stop painting my Templars all together.

p.s. Anyone think the badab black wash is making them too glossy? If you look at the marine in the back right he has no black wash, does he look more "normal"?

huh.

I don't think I've ever seen Crimson Fists with actual red hands before. That's sort of unusual... in a good way of course.
The rule of 40k is "most special rules winzzors (unless your grey knights)" so sayeth me.

They do look kind of glossy which is unusual for the washes - they normally have a very matte finish. You could put matte varnish on them afterwards to take the sheen off.

Well, I said I'd have Pedro completed by today, and I lied :P But here is his progress nonetheless, about 60ish% complete.

edit: In hindsight, not the greatest pic, i'll upload a new one tomorrow when I can take a pic with some nice daylight.
new pic added, same crappy quality though. Might have to buy some better lighting. :?

Well after some trial and error I fiannly got the banner pinned! As you can see however painting took a back seat because I just wanted the silly thing on! Then I realized it probably would've been better to have finished the banner first. Oh well, my CFs will finally have a leader by the weekend and they'll have a shiny new vindicator from ebay soon too!

Lastly, I think according to the fluff CF vets don't really distinguish themselves other than 2 red hands, but do you guys think red helmets would look silly on the sternguard units? I figure if they're the best of the best surely they have to be further distinguished.

edit: helps if I post pics.

Maybe a red marking on the helmet, a triangle or a stripe or similar?
