Why would 5th ed have made a difference?

There used to be a vagueness that you had to base all models.. but in 5th ed it says..
p72 "If a walker does not have a base (like the Chaos Defiler), measure to and from its hull (including its legs and other limbs), as normal for vehicles. "
I still think its more usefull to have a cd base (with front side and back indicated)..Ljundhammer pulled 2 out the bag on monday and the same old issues all flew across my mind in game..(inc trying to work out the rear arc when its half way up a hill and its legs are ascue)

Excellent proj thread so far. Would magnets not have worked on the torso join? Easier to take apart for transport. IIRC thats how Spack did his and it worked well.

What size magnets? at least 10-12mm I would think?

I woodnt yous magnets on the torso. Bolting it is mutch safer. As for the guns Id bolt them 2 But still able to pivet side to side. Lesten I lernt with the reaver I did. Loveing this post. Keep up t good work.

my guns are magnetised and there is no issue with that, they are really strong, I have to really dug at them to get them off. I've buried the magent in a Green Stuff blob inside the ball and socket's joint. That hold the magent beter than superglue.

As for the waist... I think Spack used a magnet once, but came home to his torso on th floor, at the foot of his book shelf, the legs still on the 5th shelf up.

I would still use my menthod, but get a bigger pin. My pin is actually my round file that snapped off on the hole as I was making it lager for something else

Good strategy KInG! The steel in a round file being much heftier than the usual pinning materails!

The pin strategy is sound, I have pinned a few models (though none the size of a Titan!) but I like the idea of using a substantial pin and the ring magnets. The pin will help the magnets with the strength of the joint and the magnets will allow for a fairly easy traverse that will remain in the chosen position.

I'm also looking forward to seeing how this comes out. Good work so far DaBoss!

Close. It was only a 2 foot drop, not the 5th shelf up But yes, the glue holding the magnet on the hips came away. However, it's not done it since, although it only goes together for games and is stored in 2 parts. I used two 10mm x 3mm rare earth magnets, each recessed into the resin (this way glue holds on 2 surfaces on each instead of just 1, and one of those is in shear which helps strengthen it). I am tempted to swap the magnets out for a large pin like Nige has done as it's much stronger, but it's something else that I'll get around to when I need to (ie a magnet breaks off again).

If the magnets are recessed into the resin and glued well they shouldn't fall out. A coating of epoxy resin would certainly ensure they never come out again - believe me!!!!

They only came out the first time cos I hadn't recessed one of them properly

Finally got round to adding some more paint to my Warhound Titan (have now got the Skaven out the way for Doubles Campaign Weekend).

Dry Brushed the model all over with Beaten Brass and now started to add the Red undercoat on the armour plates.



Just over 1 month to go...
