Have you seen the film Withnail & I? That gives you a good idea of what English pubs are like.

2 double whiskeys
2 pints of cider
ice in the cider

I can assure you officer, I'm not drunk, I have merely had a few ales
GET IN THE BACK OF THE VAN!

Oh, DE look good. Very harlequinney
When in deadly danger
When beset by doubt
Run in little circles
Wave your arms and shout

@Ruffian-Thanks for comments and the help with the British Pubs. If I ever make it over there, I am sure that with you assistance and company, we should be properly ejected from some of the finer and notorious drinking establishments in the area! Cheers!

Anyway, bit of an update. I deepened the colors on the scourges, getting there I think;

I finished up 3 Kabalite (either warriors or truborn) 2 with splinter cannon;

Have the first of 3 raiders about 90% done, just trying to figure out what else it needs. Thoughts?

And I have my first 5 Incubi base coated and drybrushed so I can see what the hell I am doing trying to pick out armor and details. Still figuring out their color but I am leaning towards a midnight blue color, making them look old, noble and elite.

barman (or woman) usually

I rarely hear people ordering "pints" of beer. They usually just ask for the name (and pint is assumed). You'd ask for a half-pint though (to disgusted looks from those around you).

The scourges look miles better. Just the helmets need to have the same depth to them and you're there I think.

The helmets were done in GW sunburst yellow. Just watered down slightly as usual.
How would I give them more depth?
Or are you talking about the orange "crests"?

The yellow need shading and highlighting. It's too flat now compared to everything else around it.

Lost my notes for a few of the games, camera ran out of juice for the last part of 3 games, but I'll try to put something together from the last one.
Very memorable, managed to virtually table 1250 points of nids!

Will work on the helmets, but TBH, adding shading to flat surfaces like that has not proven to be my forte.
I'll try to do something with them though.

I did my dire avengers pads in sunburst + yellow wash.
Something about that wash (this was about 3 producers ago, though), just seemed to have the perfect surface tension, to create an instant "extreme highlight" look.

I think that look quite suits eldar, if, like me, blending is way too advanced.
Mind you, having said that, it is possible to get a kind of blending effect with washes.

Have you ever tried painting stuff in the "toy soldier" style?
That is, undercoating in black (or base coating in a very dark shade of the required "background colour) and painting up to details, leaving a small area of the darker colour (or black undercoat) in recesses and between colour boundaries?

If you chosse your colours well, you can generally wash over the whole thing, to create a more subtle transitional glaze, over what you actually paint.

For eg, my (errrr, Stargods) night lords are undercoated black, base coated necron abyss, generally highlighted (that is, the upper portion of armour plates) and extreme highlighted in regal blue.
Tidy up edges with chaos black, no 2 colours connect, then heavy wash in blue.

My world eaters are undercoated black, dry brushed red gore, then the central parts of the armour plates washed in black.
Its surprising how much transition you get like this.

Thanks Ruffian!
Gives me many tips for doing up the Incubi.
As for the Scourges, I just managed to get a hold of a couple of painting guides, so I'll have a read through of them and see what I can come up with.

What did you think about the raiders?
Any ideas on something to jazz them up a bit?
Or are they ok the way they are?
(still have to add the "straphangers" to the sides though.

Re: Dark Eldar Kabal of Ipip

Right, bit of an update. Haven't got much painting done but came up with a solution to a problem.
I built my Razorwing jetfighter, but didn't want to glue any particular missile loadout on it.
I wanted to place the appropriate missile on the model for each different game.
So after seeing some pictures of military jets being re-loaded for battle, I thought why not put a missile rack on the base of the model and place the missiles there. Then I (and my opponent) can see which missiles the razorwing is equipped with, plus as each is fired, I can remove it from the base to show what missiles are left.

So here are the parts that I used. One is a type of girder frame and the other is a plastistruct 'I' beam.
Image

The 'I' beams were cut into small pieces, two sides 90° and the other at 45°. The 'I' beam pieces were glued to the ends of the girder pieces forming a 'V' shaped rack.
Image

From the side it looks like this:

And when loaded up with missiles, it looks like this with monoscythes:
Image

And with necrotoxins and shatterfields:

Now I just have to glue the racks to the base and do some painting and finishing.

Yeah, good idea!
Now all you have to do is model every boltgun round on all of your death dealers.
