Thank you Herne. I'm quite pleased with how they came out they have enough black to make them stand out from a normal unit but still sit nicely with them on the field.

I'm almost finished with my last batch of Tau I should have an update post by the end of the week. It feels nice to have the very last remnant of my last paint scheme gone and all my new models done all since the last codex dropped. I really need to work out my total points.

Also as I can't find a nice enough game table to lend for an army shot I may have build one..... Now to go and talk the wife into letting me store one in the house!

Well this is it all of my Tau units are finished! There are things I'd like to add still and I'm not going to stop completely, but from now on my progress with the Tau will be very slow. With the Blood Angels release just around the corner I'm not sure I'll be buying any new units any time soon. I've already got the wife primed for wallet ache and my friends on hold for my Christmas wish list.....

Enough of that though here are my new units. First up are some Marker drone.

Then I have a squadron of 9 shield drones and a 4 drone team of the old metal ones. I kept them separate as they look quite different from the newer style ones that look like the ones I'd converted up ages ago.

Squad 2;

Next up I have a Drone turret. I so wish I'd picked up more of these while I had the chance!

Image

Image

I also have a drone tower again just the one. I really need to get a few more before the disappear like all the other Tau ancillary units.

Image

Image

I've also converted this Ethereal model for the second time (I have three now). I know that Ethereal caste done use bonding knives but to me this signifies the Ethereal shouting a rallying cry to honour a fallen hero.

Image

Image

I've also finished up an all metal Pathfinder team complete with Shas'ui and prone rifleman. I much more a fan of the new models but everyone has to have a few classics in there collection, right?

Image

Image

I also painted up Longstrike despite not having a turret to fit him into yet. When trying to photograph him I noticed something that made me chuckle so this next picture is just for laughs.

I'll next be working on my Halloween vignette so I'll be back with an update the end of the month..... I hope!

Really nice work there. You need to get a large group shot of all your units together.

I know I just don't have a board to put them on and the only one I could lend is the same colour as my army. It's really good for camouflage but terrible for Photo's....

..... I may have to make one but that will take a lot of convincing the wife that we have room to store one!

And so It begins!

Image

I've started conservatively, but after reading some of the rumors I really wish I'd picked up a Stormsurge now! I'd be more upset if the Ghostshell wasn't such a beautiful kit. I'm so going to add at least another two to my cadre I'm hoping for 6 in total though.... :dead:

Image

I've magnetised all the weapon mounts, even the sensor/jamming rig on the left hand... I'm yet to add the secondary weapons though as I'm unsure on the mounting position. If I go by the box art and have them vertically (where the pegs are) they will only fit this suit. On the other had if I lay them flat I can place the magnets in the same place as every other suit in my army and make them all interchangeable.... I might throw up some pictures later if I'm still stuck with what to do.

I think my next purchase before Christmas will be the commander, it's just to awesome to not want!

I'm a little annoyed I could afford the Rampart kit, but I'm thinking if I can get hold of a paper copy of the rules from a boxset I may just make a set.... Or cave and just buy it all individually.

I hope my progress will pick up now I'm back on with the Tau.... I love my Blood Angels, I'm just not in the mood to paint them at them moment. :)

It's got me super excited for the rest of the Tau release! I just need to rob a bank now, lol.

Ok I'm still undecided on the guns so what do you guys think I'm leaning towards the practicality of the flat positioning... I've used Fusion blasters as the direction of the other guns make little difference if any at all.

You'll have to forgive the wobbly placement the blue tac would behave it self!

The Ghostkeel is a super nice kit to put together just like the Riptide the possibilities seem endless! One thing I've noticed (a little to late) is that the helm for this is about the same size as it is on the XV25 stealth suits and with a bit of chopping would make an awesome swap for a squad leader.

No one came back and said that laying down the fusion blasters looked like a stupid idea so I've moved forward on the side of practicality.... Tau'va!

Image

With all the new kits and option they provide I've started to make my squad leaders stand out much more than I usually for my Tau and I'm not sure if it's just going to date my older squads or not. I Do like the larger base size for character models though just look how majestic that Ethereal looks on his hoverboard.

Image

Image

I'm also the proud owner of maybe the first ever modelled female Piranha pilot. Thanks to the XV95 kit.

Image

Now to start on paint..... I'm not sure if I should batch paint this lot or take it a squad at a time as I'm not getting the same amount of hobby time I once was. I'll get them all primed and based and see how I feel.

Cheers guys... BDA I've stolen the phrase "gangster style" to describe the blaster layout on ATT I just had to do it!

Such slow progress, but progress none the less!

Obviously I'm batch painting (because I'm mental!) but I'm lost as to how to proceed with the Ghostkeel. My initial thought is to blackout all the brown I've not covered to give it a similar look to my stealth suits so as to not just make it look like a mini riptide... I'd really like some feed back on it as thinking about it is sapping my motivation to move forward on any of my models.

All looks amazing, I love the colour scheme!

You got the new GW walker? one with missiles? Would love to see that!

I hope soon to get all my stuff and set up a hobby table, I'm in Wales for the next 18months
