[edit..oh didn't see the last 2 posts]
Red is always good.. I'm not sure about certain shades of blue (royal blue thick would look really poor)..
A really crisp white (lining) would be fun if you could pull it off.
When talking colours.. maybe using this might help.. People will talk about blues that I would call purple.. makes discussions tricky :D
Barely even lurking..

slight update, after 9 hours straight, and loosing the feeling in my hand about 4 times, i'm now half way through 4 terminators, and about 75% through The Master of the Armoury.

Master:

quite pleased with how the helmet turned out, and the cloak looks good too, was going to try and detail it, but since i cant feel my wrist right now, i figured i'd wait :P

Terminators:

i know one of them looks like theres a blotch of white on his chest, there was, its since been corrected :)

will finish them off tomorrow :)

C&C as always guys

Coming out very nice!
Like the Master's cloak, the shading on the back is excellent.
You even managed to make the white work well.
Like the terminators too. My sergeants are either bare headed or have red helmets to distinguish them.
Just a thought.

i didnt shade the cloak, thats pure scab red over chaos black base
and the inside is pure dheneb stone :)

i havent gotten around to shading it yet... so i guess i wont now :D

in the past ive made custom heads for sergeants/captains, salvaged two from the chaos lord terminator set, one was a sorcerer head with the chaos icon filled off, and the other was what appeared to be a dark angel head (with the single wing on the side) from the trophy rack

yep, i turned a trophy head into a usable head :D even kept the gouge down the side of his face taking out an eye, looks quite good

think i'll repaint those two for these :D

ok, quick update

finished the master of the armoury

quite impressed with how the sword came out, didnt think the blue would go well with the tan, but hey, its a power sword, its not meant to go with anything, its meant to look bad ass right? :D

I think a little lightning on the sword would make it even better.

Looks great though. The blue/red/white looks good with the main armour colour.

ok, its now very late, ive lost the feeling in my wrist, im calling it a night

oh, here's Terminator 3 =) (not to be confused with the crappy film)

ImageImageImageImage

in case you cant quite make out the scrolls, the chest says Talus, the fist says Prime :)

2 more to go, then im back onto the masters of the chapter, figure i can get 1 done a day, or maybe go for a 2 then 1 special :P

this is more painting in the last 3 days than ive done in the last 3 months, maybe because im happy with the scheme on these guys?

anyone think im posting too much?

Posting too much? Absolutely not!
In fact seeing the work you are accomplishing in such a short period of time is inspiring!
Keep up the good work, if you wrist lets you!

Two pieces of advice if I may;

1. You could use some 'writing' on the purity seals. Just a few squiggly lines to represent it makes a big difference.
2. Every once in a while when working on you rmodels (like every 20 minutes or so) take a minute to look out in the distance (helps the eyes to stay focused) and use that time to stretch you back, wrists and hands (goes a long way to avoiding fatigue and repetitive stress syndrome).

Like what you are doing, the minis all look great!

looking into the distance doesnt work for me, if i take my focus off of my painting area then my vision blurs and i get one hell of a headache, so either i need to do it a bit more often, or not at all X)

i'll try the script on the scrolls, cant turn out worse than the script on the shoulder pads huh :P
