Hey guys.

Timewizard: It's on the B&C forum, here is the link: Stronos Razorback conversion

It's really easy to make too, real clever simple conversion.

Matt: The script on the side door is written using a Pigment ink pen, used some gothic text as inspiration and drew it on paper first, then got the size right and copied it onto the side door.

As for mud and dust, what would be the best way to do it? Simply drybrushed around the tracks or should it involve gluing some sand etc into the tracks to represent clumped mud etc?

I use Scorched Brown, Bestial Brown, Graveyard Earth and a smidge of Bleached bone on the marine base, so should I simply drybrush around the armour to build it up? I must admit I don't really know a good technique of doing it, but if I can get some good guidance I'll weather up the tanks a lot more.

Thanks guys :D

For weathering my tanks, I use this, it's the Tamiya weathering set;

And for putting mud on the tracks, this works great, it's called the Tamiya mud stick;

I've heard a lot of good things about the Tamiya weathering kits, but never heard anything about the mud sticks.

Have you got any photo examples of your tanks with this weathering on it?

I'll take a few pics today and post them up in an hour or two.

Loving the work - espescially the 'freehand' text on the tank detailing.

Here's a shot of the front of a Vindicator and a Rhino:

And here are 2 side shots of the Vindicator.

I didn't put it on too heavy, wanted it to look like the tanks were on their way into battle!
I also don't put it on the way the instructions say, I glob a little of the mud stick onto my paint palette (an old bathroom tile) and then using a stencil brush I found I can get a lot of control over putting it where I want to on the model.

They are looking superb on the weathering!

I might need to maybe make the weathering heavier on my tanks on the armour due to the black armour to make it stand out a bit more. Not so much on the tracks though as the silver is quite apparent. I also assume you varnish the model after weathering too? I haven't varnished any of my models so maybe I need to after weathering to stop fingers getting all muddy!

Thanks for posting pictures, they make great inspiration as to how and where to put the weathering

I haven't varnished them yet, waiting for the weather to improve.
One the weathing mud dries though, it stays on very well. Have more than a few games on both tanks, and the mud hasn't worn off at all.
I also used the Tamiya weathering powder on the top of some of the tanks, and it has stayed in place very well too.

Okay in the meantime while the weathering kits get here, here we have another model pre primer, a new WIP Captain model.

Quite simple really, a Master of the Arsenal base model, the Emperors Champion right hand and sword, and then the Bionic left arm and Combi Flamer from Forgeworld. Topped off with a Blood Angel death company helmet (removed the tear drops from the right side of the helmet) and voila, a simple kit bash style conversion.

Let me know what you think, i'm going to be painting it up over the next week or so. Let me know what colours you think would work best for his cloak (both inside and out) to compliment the red legs and black body armour of the Iron Lords.

Many thanks :)

Okay I have some WIP photos of the Captain:

Apart from the odd touchup here and there on the armour, the armour is basically done. Only things left are the right arm, relic blade, combi flamer and the back of the cloak (which will be red, as you can see some overspill on the cream on the right hand side of the cloak).

Let me know what you think. The pictures aren't great because of the light wash and no natural sunlight, better photos will follow. :)

Okay quick update, the weapons and the cloak are now finished, let me know what you think:

Quite pleased with how the red on the cloak came out, and the bolter / flamer muzzle has a little bit of burning etc, so pretty pleased all around.

Thanks guys. Not quite sure what I can paint next for them to be honest, but stay tuned i'll get something up soon! :)
