Wow, with a lot of crazy stuff happening these last 6 weeks (starting new job, start of the racing season!) I have totally forgotten about keeping this project log in check!

Okay, a update! While i've been away I haven't been sitting around idle, I've got a few small bits and peices updated and done since the Captain model. Nothing really that big, just mainly going back and finishing off small bits that needed ironing out and other sundry items.

I did however paint this regular dreadnought with a missile launcher and tl lascannon:

This guys job is to help the devastators and other static units lay down some serious firepower in helping to contest objectives / deny corridors to armour etc. I have experimented with the black highlighting on this guy, using a slightly bigger brush to add bigger highlights, I think it works quite nicely to help the greys stand out more. I did this also to the Razorback too, so I am happy with how they turned out.

I will say though that the optic lenses do need a bit of white / lighter red to help depict a lense appearance, but I'm still researching that to make sure I get it right.

Anyway let me know what you guys think, and i'll come back with updates asap.

Many thanks!

I like it. The highlights worked out well I think.

You need to try and get the wrinkles out those transfers. Have you tried putting gloss varnish on first to smooth out the surface you are applying them too. Also try solvaset which will pull them tight to the surface as it dries out.

Hi guys, a update for you all.

I picked up a Vindicator over e-bay a few weeks back, and I've finally been able to put paint to brush.

Only the dozer blade, the front armour and the repressor storm bolter turret (think of it as a Sternac pattern Vindicator ) are painted so far. Luckily next weekend is a bank holiday so hopefully can finish it off next weekend.

The yellow chevrons need a touch up here and there to get smoother cleaner lines, but like most models up close you see all the blemishes. A few touch ups here and there and the front will be sorted. Then it's the usual paint scheme like the other armour for the rest of it.

I'll post more photos when it's done most probably. Until then let me know what you think.

Many thanks! :)

I like the turret. Your edge highlights are getting neater :)

Okay guys, here we go, a finished Sternac pattern Vindicator. Let me know what you think!

I've basically gone for the same concept as my other tanks, slightly thicker grey line highlights to help make the black bits stand out, few transfers here and there and some white script work to help make it look a little more experienced.

Anyway, let me know what you guys think.

Many thanks! :)

Very nice!
I did my eldar in that extreme highlight style and it sent me bonkers and is why I am no-longer allowed out, so watch out.

ah but eldar are all curved lines and squiggly bits, imperials are all straight lines so its not as insanemaking :P

i reckon he's got about... 5 more armoured units to go before he looses his mind to chaos :)

on topic, looking good there Kobrakai, love the script work you've put on, any tips for that? :)

hey guys!

Thanks for the kind words, it's always nice to get comments and feedback :D

As for the line highlighting well, it's a little tedious, but not bad enough to make me want to go to the darkside  I got a few more vehicles I want to do for a armoured pool / Spearhead setup, so stay tuned for them.

As for the scriptwork, I will admit that I do cheat with it and use a pigment ink pen, and just try and copy a relatively simple gothic text design using it. I do occasionally use them for blacklining small parts of armour too. :)

Impossible angles ... non-euclidean geometry ... anhedral forms ... kaput!

Just saying "non-euclidean geometry ... anhedral forms " would be enough to tip me over to the squiggly side.......

Thanks Havoc; I do prefer fire support style Dreadnoughts. I might be able to get some fluff written to say he was a ex Devastator sergeant or something. My favourite is the very common now two TL autocannons. Very awesome.

Apologies for the lack of replies to this thread the last few months. I started a new job which involves a lot of commuting and other long days. I will be relocating in a few weeks which will give me plenty more time to do things I want to do for once. That includes more painting! :D

Anyway, very little has been done since the Vindicator. I did make a Predator Annihilator, but used the Baal Sponsons as conversion bits to make it so they could accomodate lascannons:

And finally, a WIP techmarine (apologies if the photos are a little dark):

He will have the standard bolter / power weapon loadout, but only a servo arm (not the complete harness) as this was a ebay buy and one of the arms had snapped off. I might buy the online store only techmarine and give him a conversion beamer, freeing up the harness for this guy and magnetise the backpacks. We will see :)

Anyway, let me know any feedback you have.

Okay guys and girls, here we go, the completed techmarine with servo-arm:

I decided to keep the backpack the same colour as his body armour, as to not divert too much attention from his helmet and other red areas. Overall i'm pleased, let me know what you think. :D

This model is the last model I will be painting back in Cheltenham. As of the week after next i'll be moving to Leamington Spa and as such, all my painting will be done at my new place. That said, I'm hoping to get more painting done there as i'll have more time once i'm there

With that said, until next time :)
