Iron Lords Strike Force Project Log

Hey guys, great to be here again.

Sadly the last time I came onto Age of Strife before today was July 2009! I must admit I'm terribly embarassed by this, but i'm back now anyway.

Those who might remember I had a Cerulean Guard project log going on here. Sadly after over complicating the paint scheme and making it very difficult to work with, I lost interest and, with the help of a lot of dettol and paint stripper, I started afresh and salvaged what I could. By now the latest marine codex was out, so I thought 'Lets try a different chapter!'

After looking through the codex I found some ideas for the smaller chapters, and then saw the Iron Lords:

So with this in mind, I painted a test model and then set about the army. I have painted up a whole load of stuff, and after a few times I've removed units and added different ones, currently I'm at about 2500pts of painted marines.

Here is what I have upto today (5th December):
Captain Arias:

Command Squad (w/ Captain):

Assault Squad:

Devastator Squad:

Predator Destructor (Made using FW spaced armour and a Baal kit):

2nd Predator Destructor (with first one alongside):

I have since updated the tactical squads with new sergeant models, so I'll get some updated tactical squad photos with their transports.

Currently my force is as follows:

- Captain, Command Squad
- LR Prometheus Command Tank
- Chaplain (now has Jump Pack)
- Assault Terminators (LR Crusader WIP)
- Sternguard
- Legion of the Damned
- 30 Tactical Marines (w/ Rhinos)
- 10 Assault Marines
- 10 Devastator Marines (w/ Rhino)

Let me know what you guys think. Sorry it's such a large first post, I had a lot of catching up to do

Thanks guys.

Very nice work Kobrakai!
The time and efort you put into this project really shows.
Color scheme follows the Chapter.
I really like to work you did on the banner!
LOTD squad came out very well also.
Nice touch with the warning stripes over the weapon sponsons! Hmmmm....
Overall, most impressive!

man :( another great painter on AoS... makes me sick I tell ya.,

Kobrakai, they are lush. I love them. I'm really gonna have to make an effort to get some stuff done, and nicely done too... if that is in fact even possible for me.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate your welcomes. I'm hoping to be a lot more active on this board from now on (hopefully not just on the project logs too).

Wizard: The army has been just over a years worth of work. Like I said I've had a few other previous units with the army but removed them because they weren't feasible with the lists I run. Alas it's all helped with the painting techniques for the colours I like. Overall very pleased with how they have turned out. :)

King: Thanks a lot for the nice comments, and also thank you again for the great service at gamingfigures.com. Everything apart from the command squad and the Prometheus in this army was bought via you guys. Expect another order from me before christmas. Hopefully a relatively big one too! :)

Thanks also to Killmainburn and Ruffian, and yea, sadly only one Chaplain. Hopefully he'll give my assault squad a bit more punch (Love the power fist chaplain model!)

Cheers Matt too, you were a huge help in my Ceruleans, and the techniques you helped me with definitely transferred onto these guys.

The Crusader is nearly finished now, just got to put some transfers on it (tank accessory and from the new FW sheets!) and also use the tactical and devastator rhino markings on the company units to make them look more precise.

Hopefully by mid week (work / weather permitting!) i'll have some more stuff.

I hope so Matt as your Ultramarines are inspirational!

Just a quick note to say the SM markings transfer sheet has arrived from FW, so i'm going to be re-badging the transports and adding extra little bits here and there to all my vehicles.

Also i'm still trying to get the crusader magnetised, so things are still moving at a good pace. Hoping to get the extra lose ends all tied up by new year.

Sounds cool. I need to get myself a crusader. It's on my list for next year. Let us know how you do the magnets.

Okay guys a small semi lifeless update for everyone.

Sorry the light isn't so great on a few photos, I will try and get some better photos done tomorrow during the day (or whenever I get some more batteries!).

Anyway, first off I recieved the SM markings transfer sheet from FW, really nice set of decals:
Image

So I put these to good use on my Rhinos, and can be seen in my nice new KR Multicase:
Image

This shot shows all the infantry and the few rhinos / preds in there. There is a quarter free at the moment, so might free that up for more rhinos, or maybe get a few bikes?

I have another case which has one side for the two Raiders, and the other side will be free for some more rhinos / Razorbacks etc.
Image

Next is my Land Raider Crusader, sorry the lights a bit crap, i'll get better shots during the day as the light won't play tricks on the paint scheme.

Let me know what you guys think.

Oh also, I got something else to show you. My next 40k based project.

What could it be?
Image

A fortress of redemption! Aww yea!
Image

Got this in double quick time from the guys at Gamingfigures. I really wasn't expecting it to arrive considering the apparent Royal Mail post problem. It's crazy, I order this Friday and it arrives now, yet I have other things I ordered 2 weeks ago and still haven't arrived. The joys of christmas post right?

Look for a seperate build thread for this beauty. My Iron Lords need ramparts to man in glorious fashion, so thats coming soon too.

Thanks for reading.

The crusader looks great. How about a little mud at the bottom and round the tracks?

I like those FW decals. I might have to look into those some more and consider whether I need to get some.

Hi everyone.

First off a pretty late happy new year to everyone, hope you all had a great time.

I haven't been able to do much to these guys since I last updated, but I got a few tanks anyway for you.

First a rhino for my 3rd Tact squad:

Then finally, a 'Stronos' Pattern Razorback with TL Plasma and Lascannon turret (taken from a tutorial on another forum):

They look pretty clean, and i'm still weighing up whether or not to weather the tanks, but either way i'd like some C&C, or opinions etc.

As for next on the painting block I have a Vindicator and a Techmarine w/ Servitors. Not sure which i'll paint first but you'll see them soon enough.

Thanks everyone :D

Looks great!
For the TL plasmaguns and Lascannon (which look fantastic BTW)...
Which tutorial on which other forum?
I play marines and field razorbacks so I would be interested in taking a look.

They look great. Is the text/scripture on them freehand?

I think mud/dust around the tracks and bottom will make a big difference.
