The paint just looked a bit blotchy rather than a smooth gradient like on places on the bastion. Of course it could be that these are super-close ups... I've no idea how big these pieces are!

I'll post a pic with something else for perspective.
I also like the minor spattering effect. On the actual piece I think it looks better.

Will try to put together a mock-up model.

Okay, so from a little further away, and placed on a reaver, this is what the front cowl would look like. Marine is there for size perspective.

Ah OK, these are smaller bits from jetbikes. I thought they were large vehicle bits! I don't know the DE codex I'm afraid.

In which case They look fine :D

wiz, they look great, and i even have a line for you to come out with if anyone else questions the spatter

''i just ran over your champion''

:)

of course it'll be even funnier/effective if you actually had just run over the champ :D

Got a bit more done, in between darts and bowling and daughter's music concert and ...well you get the idea!

Started the second bastion.

Image

This time I put the pale grey on first, then the scarlet red.

Image

I think it gives a bit better contrast between the red primer and the scarelt red.

I also got the yellow base coat on the front cowls of the reaver unit.

Image

Next step will be to start blending the red into them.

Got the red applied to the cowl of the reavers as well as the mithril silver on the rear blades.
There's also a brown basecoat on the seats that's a bit hard to see.

Image

Now I just have to get the red on the main body, add in the black accents and finish the riders.
Getting there!

Liking the jet bikes TW. Can't wait to see some riders on them ;)

While the bastions are not my cuppa tea, I think you have absalutly nailed the effect you were aiming for, kudos mate.

Are we talking about sigourney weavers cleavage in latex again?

Nice bikers (euphamism).

We are always talking about sigourney's cleavage! :twisted:
And speaking about well made large things ( :D )

Got the second bastion done, did the scheme a bit different on this one;

Image

And a different angle;

Image

Here's the 2 of them on the game table with an aegis line between them;

Image

And here, so now I have to do something with the aegis lines too! Crap!

Image

So now they have to be weathered, which won't be too bad after getting many great tips from Herne (thanks again mate!)

Got a bit more done on the reavers, but I didn't like the way their drivers were coming out, so they (the riders) are sitting in a bath of simple green right now, stripping off the coat of paint I hated.
More to come.

absolutely beautiful mate

the spacing on the camo is just brilliant, a definate dazzle pattern :)

i honestly dont know which one looks better, the white work on the first makes it stand out, and the reds on the second makes it stand out even more, yet at the same time it makes it look... right, i really dont know how to describe it

they are certainly unique, and im quite glad to say ''i had a hand in that!'' :D

but what you dont realise, is its the hand that is trying to steal them from your table! -yoink-

for the aegis line, why not mix the two patterns together a bit?

not so much like half of a then half of b split between them, but something like like half the bold lines from the first, mixed with the thinner lines of the second?

just an idea :)
