The first one wins it for me but it will be good to see once the weathering is done.

Some progress made on the reaver squad.
Finalized the colors I wanted to do on them.
Here's a couple of shots of the whole squad;

And here's a closeup of a couple of them;

Now just a little touch-up to finish them and get the base done, then it's on to the riders.
But here I'm a little stuck.
Thought I would do them up in a red/yellow like the jetbikes, but I tried one and didn't like it, the figure got lost.
Then I tried all red, and that didn't work either.
So I stripped them clean. The are primed black, and I've painted them gray.
Thinking to do them with a gray uniform/armor with red helmet trim and maybe some red trim on the armor.
Thoughts?

How about dark blue or green with spot colours which then match the bike?

I'm actually planning to do my hellions in green with red trim, wanted something a bit different for these.
I'm still leaning towards the gray with red trim.
Will do one up and see how it looks.

Thanks Ogregut!
I went with a paasche HS-202S single action airbrush.
I know the double action airbrushes are the tools of choice for professional artists, but I wanted to start simple, see how it went and then I could move up if I wanted.
The airbrush came with 3 different tips so I have a good amount of flexiblity with it.
I'm happy with the airbrush so far, I can control the amount of paint coming out by just adjusting the nozzle.

Well, coffee break over, back to work! Hopefully more to show later on.
Thanks for the replies!

Did you mask off the seats or did you come up with a more clever way to prevent the overspray?? Looking really awesome though man!!

Thanks Galador.
I actually thouth I came up with the best way to avoid overspray on the seats.
I used a brush!
The seats were actually done in citadel calthan brown with a badab black wash!

Still working on the colors for the riders.
Another try last night, another fail, another swim in simple green.
Back to the palette.

Bikes look great!
The yellow/red is really powerful, seems to me, you might need more of the same (or the same "upside down", if you see what I mean), or a real contrast, maybe dark blue???

Okay, after trying and scrapping several schemes, I came up with this one for the riders.

Image

The pants are gore red, the upper armor is enchanted blue with a badab black wash, the helmet is blood red with a mithril silver faceplate.
The pistol holster is pale flesh with a devlan mud wash to make it look like tanned human skin.
On the opposite side, the knife scabbard is knarloc green also with a devlan mud was to look like tanned orc skin.
The holster and scabbard obviously made from the skins of fallen enemies!

Still have some final detailing to do but this is mostly complete.
Thoughts on the colors?
Stick with them, change something?

im not sure about the red boots... put that together with the blue body and i just see captain america on a jetbike (sorry)

perhaps something darker?

a leatherish brown perhaps, give it the look like its wearing ''biker boots'', or maybe just a dark wash over them

still liking the bike though :)

(my order of the day here)

perhaps a red wash over the front of it, just in the recesses to help pick them out, add a little more definition to it without breaking the blending :)

The front part of the bike still needs to be finished off. I have to black line the panel lines yet and paint the grilles in black as well.

I could do a dark brown for the boots and use a couple shade lighter brown for the pants above the boots.
Have to give that a try after dinner.
Thanks!

Agree with the rd boots seeming a bit odd, but apart from that, nice!
Are you sure he's wearing red pants?
How do you even know???

Here's the rider with his boots re-done in an elfin flesh with a devlan mud wash.

I think I like it better myself. Now I just have to set up my "assembly line" painting and get the rest of them done.
