i had this great come back planned out, all typed up, then realised spack would probably tear me a new one for it :P

so i'll simply say, you peeked first cause you seem to know it first hand :P

We talk about bright red thongs, and then first hand.
Sorry, but that's just too obvious for either myself or Ruffian to "jump on" :twisted:
Not even a double entendre there, and not at all "hard" to "come" up with 5 or 6 witty reparte's!
But feel free to PM me the comments you were worried about! 8)

Thanks! It was your suggestion after all, and a very good one.
So I'll get started on the rest of the riders today.

Okay, finally got the reaver squad finished, well, mostly finished.

Here's the first 3;

And the second 3;

I think they're about done, but I also think the bare arms on the 2 riders need something, just don't know what yet.
I feel devlan mud or badab black wash will be too dark, but don't know what else to do yet.

Suggestions?

looking good!

really liking the way the red and yellows came out, and from those angles, the blue definately stands out!

though this is purely personal preferance, might i suggest darkening the silver a little? draws the eye a tad from the front

might be the camera, but what are the bare arms painted with? looks like a bare white

in which case, a thinned out devlan might help add some definition to them

if its something else, see above! :)

now where are those bastions you promised!

get back to work you lazy grot lover!!

Okay, i've managed to get the yellow coat on my venoms.
I planned to do them similar to the reavers with a red to yellow blend, but then I thought an orange color in between the yeoolw and red might look good.
So now I am waiting for the orange paint to come in. But here's how they look so far;

Image

And I got a base coat on my hellions, they're going to be done in the same scheme as the reavers as well.

Image

And I started the weathering on the first bastion. The bottom section got a light overspray of an earth tone to simulate dust and I applied a bit or rust around the metal window parts and the vents.

Image

I wanted to take it step by step because I know it is very easy to overdo weathering, so this is the first step. Now I need to add some more pronounced rust streaks, add another element to the shell holes, but it's getting there, I hope.

Thoughts?

awful, just awful, never seen something so bad in my entire life!

but seriously :P

i'd build up the mud at the bottom a bit, couple more layers with different shades perhaps, but its your first step so i dont know what you have up your sleeve

liking the rusting effect, though i would add in the metals (boltgun i assume?) before doing any more parts to it

Hey time, something to try on the bare arms if you havent come up with something yet. On the Hellions I posted up, I used an elf flesh with a wash of Ogryn Flesh and am really happy with the results. Not saying change the skin tone, but the Ogryn Flesh wash works really nicely, so you might wanna try that out. And the Reavers are looking great!!

Lookin good so far TW.

I'm not saying you should or should not add more weathering to the bastion, but I'm liking the subtle weathering done so far.

I can't help thinking the riderless Hellions look like Death Gliders from Stargate, lol :D

Well a bit more got done on the hellions.
I added in the red on the top and painted the engine exhaust in black.
Not I just have to highlight the exhaust with gunmetal, and pick out a few details and the skyboards will be done.
Then I have to get the hellions themselves finished!

The rider looks better now with the change of boots. I agree with toning down or shading the silver as it looks too flat right now.

Agree with the weathering, looks good (can't overshadow your "Dali period" camo scheme now, can we).

Okay, after a few failed attempts, twice stripping paint off and re-doing the colors, I think I can up with a skin tone for the dark eldar that I like.
This is the hellion on his skyboard.

Image

I painted the flesh with a dark eldar flesh tone I mixed out of pale flesh with a lot of white (like 1 part flesh and 4 or 5 parts white), then it got a wash of devlan mud, then highlighted with the drk eldar flesh, then another wash of a very watered down asurmen blue.

I was going for a bit of a 'Nosferatu' look. Thoughts?

Okay, I lightened his coloring up a bit, have him 90% done at this point I think.

Image

Just needs basing and final touch up.

Then there's the skin tones on the next hellion;

Image

I don't know, maybe more blue in the face?
Maybe some more highlights on the arms?
Just add the final touches to the legs and chest and call it done?
