Re: Markb's DzC Plog

I think I've actually still got a Patriarch model and a few hybrids somewhere.

Anyway, just had some bad news. My order from Waugh Games hasn't arrived and as I go back on Tuesday, even if it comes in on Monday I won't have the time to get it sorted out and undercoated before I leave. Bugger! Oh well, I'll just have to take what I've got away with me, this is a starter set, a Doomsquid, 2 Reavers and four bases of Destroyers.

From what I hear unless you are in store on the regular they have very bad customer service and completion rates on orders.

I was in the store talking to Brian when you rang this morning. From what I can gather he is having problems getting it in from the supplier after selling the majority of his stock at Wartorn.

Yeah, that's what he said. It was supposed to be in on Thursday, then Friday and now god knows. Still, at least he has offered to actually bring it round to my house when it finally comes in free of charge.

On a more positive note I managed to get hold of a two player starter set from Big Jays. At least now I can read the rules and am only really missing the light drop ships and prowlers from my 1500 pt Scourge army.

How many prowlers are you planning to run?

I'm going to run a full Occupation Host squad of eight in two Intruders.

From what I've seen on the Hawk forum that seems to be the best configuration.

Let me know how they do in your battle!

I will do but I won't be playing for three months!

Argh! The suspense is going to be unbearable!

But you'll have plenty of time to get everything painted at least!

Yeah, it's annoying that my leave got cut short, was really looking forward to getting a good few games in!

Well I've finalised what I will be painting over the next 3 months while I'm away at work. This will be:-

1x Doomsquid
6x Hunters
6x Reapers
3x Marauders
8x Warriors stands
4x Destroyers
2x Reavers
2x Invaders

This is over 1000 pts worth of stuff. Some of the above, i.e. the stuff you get in the starter set, is what I will be entering into the Summertime comp. To finish off the 1500 pt list I am waiting on:-

2x Intruder Alphas
2x Intruder Beta
1x Reaver
8x Prowlers.

If I get time as well I will attempt to get the UCM starter done.

Sounds like a plan.

So it's just the starter set you're entering into the summertime comp then?

Yes, mate. I'm not getting too ambitious, I know how unreliable I am when it comes to painting!

Well off back to work today, will be back at the start of October. Owing to a lack of space in my luggage (I really must get a bigger bag!) I am unable to take my UCM away so will be concentrating on the Scourge. I hope to get my first real updates up by the weekend.

Incidentally I have decided that the Invader won't make it in to the army. When I had a proper look at it I noticed that I had somehow managed to get green paint all over the engines! God knows how I achieved that one but it is a valuable lesson, never attempt to paint when you are half cut!

Good luck while you're away Mark. Worry not, you still have well over a month and a half to get the scourge done.

As for the green on the engines, I'm sure it's nothing that a bit of a touch up can't fix. The engines aren't the most prominent feature on the invaders anyway!
