Seconded!

I presume the red line of the revenant's base is for facing?

Yep, same as the skeletons. Yellow on the Dwarfs.

Even though the bases are square, I foresee the kind of "conversations" that start "I thought he was facing that way?"

@Matt, what is the basics of this game? Is it you play a single model each vs the dungeon ala heroquest?

There are 2 main games, both standalone. This one I'm painting is Dead Rising - Dwarfs vs Undead. One player take the Dwarfs and the other is the Necromancer. There are 7 missions in the book which get progressively harder.

The other full version of the game is Green Menace in which one player takes Orcs and the other Elves. The core game Mechanics are the same (although shooting is added) as Dead Rising but there are some differences in the way Orcs and Elves operate. Same deal - a bunch of missions for both sides to do.

We've not started playing this version yet - I'll paint it up first and then we'll give it a go.

The last set out is Ancient Grudge which expands on the other 2 (so you need one or both to use it). It adds rules for multi-player and more models types to each race and points values for creating warbands and playing all the missions using whatever models you want rather than those originally printed.

Talking to Jake Thornton recently (the author), if Mantic let him he has plans for a new expansion which will add the role-play element like warhammer quest.

The skelly bobs vs dwarfs(having now played it, cheers stunty) is exactly as anticipated an interesting poor mans spacehulk, 1 on1 precision vs horde dungeon crawl.
I'd get it basically if I wanted space hulk that could fit into an already full lunch box. :D
It has a nice wounding mechanic (which it took us a while to get), some components were pretty cheap build quality (but thats the price)Maps appeared small (less extravagent than for example oh SH), although that could have just been the missions we played rather than due to not many tiles.
I'm not sure if Matt will endulge me, but having got so used to GW breaking 28mm, the scale was tiny.. most of the board tiles shown above are about the length of my forefinger IRRC. (don't suppose you fancy taking a picture of a 4x4 tile with you thumb next to it do you matt? was I just drunk?)

The squares are 25mm

The models themselves are the same scale as GW (in fact the dwarfs are slightly larger iirc)

Ok then to those that know i suppose my question is this, i want to get back into warhammer quest but i only have 2 options buy from ebay currently £150 or build a copy myself, my prefered option but much time consuming! Would this be considered as a direct replacement?

Matt sorry for the threadjack, i like what you have done so far.

Not a direct replacement no. If you want the role-play character building progression then this will not be for you (yet... although it's part of Jakes plan). It is a good tactical dungeon based game though :) As KMB says, as it stands not it's more akin to spacehulk if you want a GW-like comparison.

There are resources out there to download all the tiles and stuff for warhammer quest, advanced heroquest etc.

They look lovely, have you always put them on perspex?

On weirdness I was rifling through my sisters CD collection and found my witches lair/throne room 5x6 floor tile (complete with the manacles image from the cover) from return of the witch lord expansion to heroquest..Which hasn't been in my hands since I was 13.. (have you seen how much the wizards of morcar (the one that adds more spells and footmen) and ogre horde (contained something like 12 ogres in) go for now 8O 8O .. I gave mine to a friend who let his mum throw them away :x

Yes I bid on them the other day when I found them at 1.24 each. They finished at about £150 or something silly.

Yes I'm putting all the models for the DKH games on the clear bases. I'll do the same for Pandora too.
