What next

Postby Herne » Thu Mar 12, 2009 10:24 am

Think I probably will go with a unit of knights next. Have one or two paint schemes inmind, although am itching to do another unit of warriors in Khorne colours. Am going to start them tomorrow night I think.

Khorne Knights

Postby Herne » Sun Jul 19, 2009 12:55 pm

Well it's been a long time in the coming - but finally I finished these Khornate Knights. I've never known 5 models be so time consuming and complicated to paint! 8O See what you think.... (Sorry if it's a bit pic heavy for yon PC's)

You should dump them all in bucket of simple green for a month or so and start all over. :P

Those are absolutely incredible Herne! The level of detail is outstanding. From the bloodstains on the standard bearer's banner, to the work on the champion's shield (including the detail on his horse's eye) just amazing!
Was this a commission job or is this for your own force?
Either way, when they take the field the opponent would have to be impressed and possibly too distracted to focus properly for the first few turns.
Nice work, well worth the effort you put in.

This is his own force iirc.

Awesome stuff Herne, well worth the wait :)

You know they'll die first turn the first time you use them? Sod's law ;)

Not sods law, but a rule of gaming in general. If you squint hard enough at any rulebook you will find it.

Oh, and splendid models! *reaches for cannon*

Yep - it's there next to 'using new dice - you must lose one under a cupboard on the first role' and 'new tape measures must snap back hard and take a chunk out of your nuckle' - ces't la vie.

War Altar

Postby Herne » Tue Jul 21, 2009 7:12 pm

Just a little update - here is my scratch built war altar including the old empire war wagon, the old beast of nurgle and the dragon skull that came with the now ancient 'emperor' dragon. (Or was it 'great imperial dragon.') My take is that the power of the altar comes from the dragon skull and is channelled by the dark priest / sorcerer. Promised pics of this a while ago, but only just got around to photographing it.

Everything inside the cart is pinned so I can lift it out for painting. The horse halters were cut off, split and inverted to make a metal 'noose' for the beast to haul the wagon. Hope people like it!

It looks pretty sturdy - like it could take a real pounding and still get to your lines!

Re: Project log: W.O.C by Herne (updated w/ war altar)

Postby Herne » Thu Aug 27, 2009 11:59 am

Here's the next installment. As I mentioned elsewhere in this log I like the idea of a joint chaos army of mortals, beastmen and daemons, so to get around the rules issue of not many daemons in the new book I chose to use bloodletters for my forsaken. I love the new models and wanted to get some to paint anyway. I used the dipping method for these spurred on by MattJgilberts log on dipping  and thought I'd have a go. Seems to work quite well, although you have to be very careful with the anti-shine spray or everything goes frosty! 8O Hope people like:

Very, very nice Herne! I can't understand though why you have "forsaken" them!

Thanks TW. Not sure what I'll paint next. Possibly some Khorne chaos warriors as I seem to be painting red a lot at the minute....
