Took the nurgle out for a spin last night.
Played against.
HQ- Company command squad with 3 melta in chimera
Troops - 4 vet squads maxed out in chimera , 1 squad plas,1 squad melta,1 squad flamer+ something (with heavy flamers and heavy flamers...list had been tailored to previous opponent)
Heavy- 3 seperate leman russ , one demolisher , 2 regular.. all with lascannons at the front, 2 with heavy bolters one with plasma..
I think I must have missed something off because typing it out now it seems a bit light.. (I'll ask him and post any updates)
Basically- bloody mech guard again,is there anyone out there not playing guard ?
Played Night fight from battle missions(its not just a clever name night fight is in effect all the time).. worked a bit in my favour as most of my shooting was point blank flamer template.. saved me from 2 shots in the game.(really really weird deployment for that one, was quite fun).
Things I learnt
1) When you have the perfect assualt planned with epi and squad ,it sucks to roll a double one for S+P and be trapped facing a full plasma and flamer vet squad.They lived, but next turn they charged with 3 men instead of 8.
2) Orders suck if your not going fast or an
MC (yeah he killed 3/4
MCs, but his face trying to find an order that helped against basic t5 infantry XD)
3) Deployment dice suck.. (I got plaguebearers and nurglings, rather than
DPs,
GUOs and epi).
4) The tally doesn't make much sense against mech 1500- I maxxed out my tally when there was 2 of his infantry left on the table to fight. (I think I'd swap power weapons for melta bombs if someone asked
)
5) Nurglings as 3x3 though helping balance the deployment groups are so weak they are killed by basic vets before they can strike.. 4+5 instead.
6) everybody hates epi.. and he needs a bigger sheild so 6,6,9 from now, fluff be damned
7) Even though my
DPs arrived piecemeal having 17t6
MC wounds over the course of the game is a good firemagnet for anyone who doesn't just autocannon spam.(I'm still sat waiting for heavy bolters to go back down to a third of their current points cost before I can make "critical fire" (old name -torrenting list))
Breath of chaos sucks.. spent loads on it.. and it only killed 2 guard the whole game.(didn't glance a tank until turn 7 when it was just for jokes finishing off a chimera I'd immobilised.In fact I think the tzeentch cursed my list..no shooty weapon of mine rolled a succesffully all game.(e.g. all BOC missed..really need to find something nurgly to replace them with)
9) No one should ever listen to me, the one time I offered a tip of "shoot that close knit horde with your battle cannon to maximise hits *before* hitting them with your vets"..it boomerang banana'd 9"s straight onto his vets and killed 5 of them...he said I did that deliberatly
I cleared off his troop choices, he killed off my fire (demon princes, although the great unclean one only turned up turn 5 managed to kill a leman russ) i had 2 guys on centre obective, and a full 6 on one on a far flank.. went till turn 7 where he'd cleared the centre and was trying to tank shock onto the far flank..but my remaining
DP 1 wound (who he'd had to ignore to get across the board) hit him in the arse and immobilised him.. making the game mine by 1 objective to 0.
Scary close.. turn 2 and 3 I was such a gonna.It was only savey McSaveypants who managed to prevent me being battered.
