(bolter and chainsword is nothing compared to this place)

im sure i'll come up with more as time goes by, so right now this thread is kind of just a place holder till i get a steady stream going with pictures.

so to really start this off, im looking for opinions on the current chapter badge, with a view to changing it

this is a basic cut of what it is at the moment, though it is much simpler when painted onto the marines themselves (as you may have seen on the terminator pictures posted)



it came about shortly after i bought a cross (oddly) for my neck

it kinda became my trademark for a while, sounds strange i know, but people at work always knew i'd been there when they saw it doodled all over notepads on desks

the way its applied to the marines is a fairly simple manner right now, 4 lines, rather dull no?

im working on a larger version of it for the titan shin, bit more detail in it and all

now, should i keep this design? or update it as i did the scheme?

also, im still taking suggestions for a name change, Knights of Talus? Sons of Talus?

great symbol although I think it would be more suited to eldar or tau.. you could possibly widen the 2 sides slightly to make it look a bit like an imperial eagle?

the applied well part remains to be seen

for the Huron weapon change, i have an idea for a storm bolter, just requires a hack and slash on an existing terminator bolter hand, but it also depends on the way Hurons arm is cast...

titan will have a desert like camo scheme on the main hull, still a little undecided on the head groin and arm scheme, leaning towards a bone like pattern for it, something that contrasts a bit with the tan

done a quick scribble on paint so you get the rough idea (needs cleaning up a lot)

That's better. The elements in the first design were too thin and the gaps between the too big.

What's the history of the chapter? You can then try and reflect that (or some of it) in the chapter symbol.

I'm not sure.. the first has a nice rorschach, I see a clawed (foot)print, where as the second I see fangs bysected.
Will you be manually applying each or are you going to try to make them into transfers (I can't remember how its done but it used to be one of the good things on BOLS)

Names if Talus is the homeworld.. what is the accepted name for people from Talus.
Dependant on companies used you could have things like the "1st and 10th Talusian". (sound a bit guardy? 1st and 10th seems to be a currently popular fluff thing with loads of termies dreads and scouts no 3+.)

Worst combo thrown up I could find would give you Umbrageous Talusians (meaning to cast a shadow..I had to look that up)

ah ok, i see where you were going with the cross now, didnt think of it like that, i had visions of adding eagle wings to the outer points

history is in the process of being re-written, since the former talus (black and gold scheme) was volcanic, and this one is desert, im trying to think of a way i can explain the change, all that springs to mind is a warp storm shifting its orbit or something, and the chapter having to re-think things in order to survive (would also fluff away the black and gold dreadnoughts and veterans)

for a long time i had the necrons as their nemesis, since till the tau i only had 2 necron squads kicking around (sold off the nids from the macragge and most of the space hulk set), not sure which one to put as the antagonist now though

i was planning something for the titans groin panel (quartered bone and tan with badges in each panel, and the chapter badge at the centre), so really a chapter history would come in handy for that, all i have right now is a skull, badge and two crossed swords.

but my freehand isnt all that great, so whatever i decide on, or more to the point, what you lot decide on, will be limited by that...

unless theres a volunteer to paint chapter badges on everything i paint up


ive been looking for the sheets used to make water slide transfers, i've heard that you can print your own using a laser printer, might help me out a bit

hobbycraft might do them, was running out there tomorrow for a few bits, will take a gander and let you know

then just need to find someone with a laser printer XD

thats a clearer shot on how its currently painted on, its the most accurate representation of the cross i mentioned, its not that dramatic...

clawed footprint does sound right in a way, since i used a slightly more dramatic version of it on the ''Talyns Claw'' terminator vets i did a while ago (damned if i can find them now though), it was added emphasis on the points, making it appear like it had claws of its own (fitting since they were a 5 man lightning claw squad)

that cross is good too and works well with the 'scripture' around it..

I got my decal paper off of ebay, remember if you do get decal paper you need to spray it with sealant otherwise the ink will wash off when you put it in water.

so old fashioned purity seal will sort it?

found a seller on amazon, £12 for about 4 a4 sheets

or another guy that has 20 sheets for £10 but they've been taken out of packaging

not sure if purity seal will work I got some spray from the seller on ebay..

ok, since i at the moment seem incapable of deciding anything of my own chapter, i've another question to throw out there

ive been intrigued by the concept of vets having different coloured helmets, ultramarines white for example

now, im rather tempted to use red for my vets/captains, but at contrast with that i was thinking about blue for the outside of cloaks

now this could look horrid on for example, the master of the armoury (holding helmet and sword)

the red i can see working, especially if i did it the same as the dragons body (see roary the dragon thread)


thoughts on the cloak?
