Space Wolves a tale of high adventure

Postby BDJV » Mon Aug 25, 2008 1:02 pm

Hey guys I'm back painting and gaming. I've decided it's time to revisit my first 40K army. I've been playing Space Wolves since RT and haven't updated my army since second ed. So they are a little dated.

So lets start with a look into the past. Here are a smattering of my Wolves; all painted 10+ years ago.

The Wolflord with the Pfist is my first attempt at GSing wolfpelts.

The predator will be the only thing to transition into the new army for sure.

So here is my first Grey Hunter for the new army. He still needs a little work. Sorry the pics are a little dark.

Very nice job! Even the older stuff looks great!

Excellent work. They look great all together.

I remember trying black-lining for a while as recommended in WD with a technical drawing pen!

Welcome back...
Really nice (I like the guy popping out the pred..is that a conversion or did they use to sell that like that?)
I greylined onto my black models..it worked for a while till I lost patience and just started washing it on.. then it just made them all look like they been walking through clay (sniffle)
Barely even lurking..

Thanks for all of the positive feedback! I appreciate it.

I didn't black line the mini, he was block painted leaving the dark grey in the creases.

Ohhh dey is ver' nice. *sulk*

Puts my feeble efforts to shame, though I have always preferred SW in the Codex Grey.

Hi btw, don't think we've met on here before :D

Thanks dude.

Ok here is the finished Grey Hunter. Grrr... I need to fix one thing a spot of grey on the exhaust vent on his pack. Other than that one flaw I'm quite happy with they way he's turned out.

That fellow on the predator is one of the old attack bike crewmen I think.

I love using the old stuff in my forces. I can't believe you don't want to use your old troopers!

The age of the old Wolves is purely an excuse to paint a new Wolf army. As I am a much better painter now; it'll be nice to showcase my favorite 40K army.

I assure you the old wolves will get plenty of play in Apocalypse games.

I love the damaged armour. I think this grey looks better than the new grey scheme for the wolves.

I'm currently building the Grey hunters Pack mates.

I also thought I'd show the start of my Wolf Lord.

He needs some green stuff work, but it gives you the general idea for his posing.

Thats great - and may Russ Favour you in your battles.

Love the Howling wolf on a Bloodly Moon symbol and the old 1st and 2nd edition models.

I am going to (but keep putting it off due to ever present rumors of a SW updated Codex!!) base all my Space Wolves on slate and use 'snow' as the flock.

Already based my terminators this way (painted by Thaiss).

Keep the pictures flowing and you can never have too many spacewolves (unless the Fenrisian XXXXXX is running low).

No updates for about 6 weeks. I thought I'd share my little bout of bad luck wiff y'all. I was riding home with a good friend from a great Flames of War Tourney at a convention last Saturday night and we got broadsided by a drunk driver. I got a nasty concussion, a grade A case of whiplash a broken Right arm and ankle. The concussion was so bad I was in the hospital for almost 5 days.

My buddy is relatively Ok slight case of whiplash but fine otherwise. The moron DD came out without a scratch.

My FOW army survived unscathed because it was in one of those overpriced GW hard cases. My buds army was in a soft case behind my seat and is fraked up big time.

On the upside I'm feeling no pain right now cause I'm on a high, high from the lovely pain killers they've got me on!

This sucks cause I was on a real roll getting lotsa hobby stuff done. Oh well hopefully Mid October should be really productive for me.
