Does that assemble to all 6 variants or just the Shadowsword/Storm Lord?

It assembles to all six, the only difference between them is the Weapon Housing either mounts at the front or the back + the barrel on the cannon changes. I will add more photos....

Ive added pictures of all the variants. There are two differences between mine & the 'correct' way of building them, first the two armour plates on the Weapon Housing front are the Storm Lord ones (they allow for the mega bolter canopy) & the walls at the back which the heavy stubbers attach too (I leave them on because it looks better than it does without)

They look great Daz!
Nice piece of work. Takes a lot of advance planning to get the magnets just right.
Good job so far, looking forward to seeing it all painted up. Any ideas on your paint scheme as yet?

many tanks

Postby Herne » Fri Mar 13, 2009 4:14 pm

Excellent - I was hoping someone would post about this here - I'm dying to get my hands on a couple of the variants - but wasn't sure how many kits to buy. I'm a magnet freak like yourself, so now I've seen the kit I know I don't need to buy as many - just more magnets!

By the way - does anyone know why my digital watch stops working when I play with my tanks????

Because when you are enjoying yourself, time stands still! :D

@Daz-Could you give a list of the size magnets you used on the components? Would probably help any others who wanted to do the same to their models.

Haha, thanks guys! This was my second project with magnets, my first arrived a week before I got this kit (it was a half built leman russ demolisher which had 2 magnets on the dozer blade). I was intrigued so I bought some magnets on ebay & now I'm addicted :D

Im not sure yet on my paint scheme for my army (I'm up to 7 LRBT, 2 LRD, 3 LRV, a bassie, my shadowsword etc, a chimera, well over 200 plastic guard, 30 storm troopers etc)... I was considering having a couple of different battalions but from the same army, some desert camo, some urban camo etc. Cant quite decide :P

I have used 8mm X 1mm magnets for the main weapons, 6 in all. & I have used 2mm X 1mm for the rest, 34 in all. The 2mm ones are perfect if you have the standard GW pin drill with the largest drill bit - just drill a hole, pop superglue in then add the magnet - done! 8)
I still have the lascannon turrets to make which may incorperate some 2mm magnets (due to being able to change them for targeters on the shadow sword for +1BS)
