Strike Force Arias - A DIY Chapter 'The Cerulean Guard' log

For members to post long running threads about projects they are working on

Postby Kobrakai » Tue Oct 14, 2008 8:57 pm

Okay, while Forgeworld deal with my missing part, and currently doing a few deals to hopefully get me the two sides of the land raider I need since the original parts were destroyed by the FW extra armour kit, here are some WIP's:

Image

Quick dry fit together of the interior with mud effects et al. Also included a few boltguns on the rack.

Image

And the Tech-Adept ready to go on the top firing with his Storm Bolter.

Hopefully going to get the two sets of sponsons primered tomorrow and will start painting them. Hopefully the necessary parts will come in the next few days and will be able to get it near completed.

Thanks for reading!

Okay, been busy! Some photos are better than others!

Finished land raider:

Looks a little plain I think maybe needs some more vehicle transfers?

Next, my veteran squad:

Finally, my librarian:

Considering most librarians are blue anyway, I thought i'd try something different. I think it looks pretty good, might need a few bits touching up though.

Thanks! :)

Looking good :)

I think the LR needs some dirtying up round the tracks and the bottom which will add to the effect. The transfers you have already put on could do with a little paint around them to hide the "silvering" effect of the decals. Try the odd bit of brass amongst the other silver metal areas to break it up a bit then see how it looks.

The vet squad is nice and the librarian looks pretty cool too.

Matt: Perhaps the tank is a little too clean, some mud and dirt could do it some good, aswell as touching up around the transfers!

Thanks all, appreciate you people taking the time to reply for me :)

The raider could use a little weathering. The rest of the army is a bit grubby and worn (which I like), but the raider seems too clean.

I have a question: What are the "lambdas" on the sponsons meant to signify? They are traditionally a symbol for Heavy support, but a Promethius isn't a Heavy support choice.

Okay it's been awhile but i'm able to update this again.

Culven: That is very true, I realised that myself as soon as you asked about the Lambda's, I think I went into autopilot with the painting because land raiders are generally HS options. Thats going to be fixed.

I've also finally found a logo for my marines; I'm going to use the Raptors eagle head as my logo, so they form my orders from FW / GW (Pads, Land Raider doors etc..)

Okay well before the GW and FW christmas deadlines are gone i've made a few orders and they are slowly coming through. I'm hopefully having the few days prior to christmas off work, which means I can work on my marines.

So i've compiled a 'To do before back to work in 2009' list.

My 'To do before back to work in 2009' list:

- Finish weathering the land raider and remove the old doors and replace with the Raptor doors.
- Build terminator squad with forgeworld raptor pads
- Build assault squad with raptor pads and assault pads
- Re-do command squad

If i get anymore done then that'll be a brucey bonus!

I'll keep this as updated as I can throughout the festive period.

Okay, just one more order to arrive from forgeworld, but these are my bits for the coming few weeks

Image

10 Assault marines
1 Chaplain with jump pack
5 Terminators (waiting on the FW raptor shoulder pads)
Dreadnought arms (two sets of twin linked autocannons)
Mk4 Predator kit (from forgeworld!)

To come in the last order:

FW Raptor land raider doors (for the prometheus)
FW Raptor terminator shoulder pads.

Best get busy :D

Matt: Nothing GW based I don't think :(

Amazingly I fund much more expensive addictions, and stuff to support that is what i'm getting for christmas.

Unless they get me a gift voucher! Which is always handy! :D

Ok i've made a start!

Image

Quick overall photo of what i've done; includes dreadnought arms, the predator with a painted dozer blade, and a tech adept on the Vindicator.

Image

Quick overview of the predator. Added some bits and bobs to the turret, makes it almost look as if it has a wreath around it with the smoke launchers. The predator also has re-inforced rhino armour.

Image

A tech adept with a missile launcher, could be used as a Hunter Killer Missile? Maybe if i root some wire (guitar strings maybe?) from the launcher to the turret in some fashion could make it look like a quick 'in dire situations' hotwire.

Image

A 'Mortis' pattern dreadnought with two sets of twin linked autocannons, thought that would be a good addition to the force.

Thanks for reading :)

The dread looks really cool. I think the ML guys works well. Not sure what the strings would look like but maybe brass wire if that doesn't work?
