Tales of the Horus Heresy

Postby lostandthedamned » Thu Jun 11, 2009 10:15 pm

I'm currently in the process of repainting old figures and adding new ones to take Ultramarines to the Horus Heresy Campaign Weekend in September.

Although he's very cool I don't want to take the Primarch, and I wanted a big modeling project, (previous armies having had my Scratch built Silver Tower and Kha'bandha) so i've decided to follow in many others footsteps and build a Warhound Titan.

Schematics where found online and then adapted, mainly because I suck at boxwork, so most of the pieces will be made from layered Foamboard.

I intend to magnetise the weapons so I can test all the weapons fit, and make use of it after the campaign.

My first night was spent cutting out templates so no real pictures but today it began to take shape.

I need to go out and buy the PVC tube to make the joints and pistons but it's nice to get the first section recognisable as a titan foot.

Tis true- tis indeed the very foot of a titan :)
Mr6 used balsa wood for mine/ours.
I really am gonna have to get my act together and join tempus fug it..they have primarchs? How many? Push king into joining you lot for autumn,he likes the circuit :)
(I would but find myself in awe when a murder of geeks exceeds 25 and fail my charisma test  )

I know its a father ted/dougal question but , how far away are those books :O , that leg looks really really really big.
(edit Geeky wife points out their dvds so not as big comparison as encyclopeadias ,so not as big leg as first thought.. she also nods in approval at your collection  )

Me holding the foot on sheet of A4 card, while sitting on end of my bed with those shelves being level with the bottom. So about 6ft away.

The Tempus Fugitives campaigns are a great laugh, especially due to the detail put in by the organisers. Every Legion has not only it's Primarch but at least 5 other Named characters. (The_Lion, Iceman99 and TheColonel have Corax, The Great Khan and Dorn already) This is being expanded to 8-9 per legion for the next event, which is a good thing as we are going to be required to take at least one of them in each list.
As I don't want to take a Primarch, my named characters will be Stalker Sgt Telcion (who gives a tactical squad stalker pattern bolt guns), Sgt Scipio (who gives a bike squad special ammunition) and Lysius Mysander- Regent of Ultramar, who makes terminators scoring units.
I'm in the middle of painting Telcion and his converted unit and i've just received Red Scorpions Commander Cullen who will be converted to make Mysander. These however got put on the back burner while I cut more foamboard.

PS don't worry about the numbers and come along. They have just sold out of Loyalist tickets but the Warmaster faction is still open.

Update time:

After the first night I thought that the hard bit was over, Surely the legs where the most complicated piece of the titan.
Now I know different. To make some of the sections I've had to laminate up to 12 layers of foamboard together which is very difficult to get them all aligned and sized the same however careful I am.

The last sections of base constuction still to be done are the left shoulder, the plasma blastgun and the head.

I then need to cover the entire surface with thin plastic to go over the layering. this has already been done to the lower legs but the rest needs doing.

Pictures First both legs:

The waist and turbo laser:

And the main torso (needs other shoulderplate):
