Hi Gents. Sorry to gatecrash the Forum, but are you looking for something to do on Mothers Day?

How about playing a couple of games of Impetus?

Impetus is a fast and fun set of rules for Ancient and Medieval warfare, with a small but growing competition scene.

I am organising a one day Impetus competition 10th March. The hope is to introduce some new players to the game and tournament scene as well as get together with some of the more experienced players in the region. If you don't have an army and want to take part we can make suitable arrangements if you let me know in advance, and I will be on hand to run tutorials to demonstrate how the game works.

The venue is the gaming area of a newly opened wargames shop in Middlesbrough. They have up to 10 tables available so there should be plenty of space. The stated aim is to have fun and try and encourage newer players, so if anyone is felt to be “Clubbing Baby Seals” I will consider withdrawing the event IWL (Impetus World League) status and no IWL points will be scored. The organiser will only play if we have an odd number of entries. If this is a success we can repeat it later in the year.

Entry is £5 per person. Payment by paypal in advance to -email- ken.natt@ntlworld.com . If by Paypal please make the payment as a gift so that I am not charged for withdrawing the funds. Entry fees will be used to cover the venue costs and any excess will be used as prizes - probably in the form of vouchers for use in the store.

09:45 – 10:00 – Arrival and Registration
10:00 – 10:15 - 1st Round Draw (random)
10:15 – 12:15 – Game One
12:30 – 13:15 – Lunch
13:15 – 15:15 – Game Two
15:15 – 15:20 – Tea & Coffee Break
15:20 – 17:20 – Game Three

Armies & Army lists
The competition is restricted to armies the Ancient Period, ie Army lists volume 1-10 Bronze age, Classical Age or Imperial Age . Lists should be taken from either the Impetus main rulebook, any published Extra Impetus supplements or current published Beta lists.

Armies should be 300 points, from 1 to 2 Commands. The largest Command must not exceed 75% of VDT limit.

Halve minimums and maximums on army lists.

The 2013 Advanced Impetus Rules & Amendments will be used where they apply to 300pt one day competitions as detailed here.

Armies must have a camp, unless not required by the list.

Army lists and entry fees must be submitted to the event organizer no later than 12 noon on Sunday 3rd March 2013. Please send lists by e-mail, either as an attachment or in the body of the e-mail. Players will be notified that their army list has been received. Updates on the tournament can be found on the Impetus Forum.

Players not submitting a list as above in a clear and legible manner will be deducted 30 vps. All armies should be fully painted and anyone not fielding a fully painted force will be deducted 30 vps.

Rules Queries
Hopefully, all games will be played out with the utmost fun, and run completely smoothly. If you do have any problem/rules queries then, first look in the relevant rule/army book and, if this does not satisfy you or you can’t find the answer, and then please feel free to ask the event organizer. There will be no specific umpire appointed but hopefully we will be able to resolve any issues if they arise.

Sportsmanship
There will be no sportsmanship scoring for this event. However, if anyone feels their opponent was highly unsporting during their game they should make their feelings known to the event organizer.

The Battlefield
Terrain will be deployed as per the competition rules. Terrain will be provided.

Game Play
All games will be the Standard Pitched Battle following the competition rules. The games will last 2 hours, including deployment, at the end of the 2 hours only actions can be taken to complete the turn.

Awards
