Just a quick post to see if anyone would be interested in setting up and/or participating in a wh40k campaign plus it may pull in some new players into the thursday night club anyway just a thought

We had a team campaign previously that I was not involved in so can not comment on. I think that a campaign based around the Planetary Empires set would be an excellent idea. (We may be able to lay our hands on a set)
If you want to come and have a chat about it with Gav, Alan or myself on a thursday we are always open to ideas.
Id be more than happy to take part and as you mention it might be a good way to pull people in.
Dont forget we have a selection of Planetstrike terrain if you would like to incorporate that into the game

If there is enough interest in participating in one we would be more than happy to come up with something, it has always been a goal of the club to provide varied, fun and unique gaming experiences for club members to enjoy. Currently the membership of the club is at a bit of a low and most players only attend infrequently, this is an issue for running a successful campaign. If we can gain enough interest or the attendance improves then no probs at all. Likewise if you have a campaign in mind you are welcome to run one at the club and see whos interested.

well actually it was because of what you said last thursday that i came up with the idea so lets spread the word and hopefully get one going

I wouldn't mind taking part, but I am one of the guilty party who only turn up every now and then. I am planning to be there next Thursday (2nd Feb) but I do read the forum each day so I can be contacted via here

right had a few ideas
1: point total 500 points enough for 2 troops and a commander
2: all units on lists are final no tweaking between games unless under certain circumstances (will explain later)
3: Total point limit (based on peoples collections and time at the club) 2000 or 3000
4: map based campaign with strategic points that give bonuses (with bases and also special rules like reinforcement [list tweaking] or other bonuses to be discussed later)
5:100 or 250 point bonus for each map point taken
6:alliances can be formed so players can "borrow" reinforcements from other players if they agree (based on d6+1x 100)
7:if several players wish to converge on one map point then a multiplayer fight must take place unless one or more player(s) withdraw
8: your base destroyed you are out
9: one overall ruler of the planet/system

just a few ideas will expand on them more as we work on it
