ORIGINAL POST:

Hello

I thought I would start a new post about the campaign, so we can discuss what you think so far.
A few things that me and Gav have already discussed are instead of D6 terrain in the dessert areas we use D6 +2 terrain.
Also I do not want 15000pt army lists, 1500pts will do. Thanks Gav. :oops

Hows this for a change.

Bone Shrine

Allows non Imperials (so not Space marines or Imperial guard) a single attack on any province on the map (i.e using strange warp technologies to mount an assault) Chaos gets 4vp and everyone else gets 2vp
Any Non Imp force gets a Greater Demon on a 4,5,6 when defending.
(Space Marines are too pious to hae demons fighting for them, but we could imagine that everyone else inc. Imperial guard are tricked into seeing something else, i.e the spirit of the empire, a greater demon)

Orks Landing,

The same as is written except that we allow any defending player to gain the Orks re-enforcements, and change it to 1-2 50pts, 3-4 100pts, 5-6 150pts.

We could remove the 3/4 vp option and use the empire shrine along the same lines assuming it is an ancient bunker sysem or batttle shrine with working defence systems (i.e allowing the player an additional Hvy Bolter turrets or a twin linked Lascannon emplacement placed after terrain by the controllong player?

What do you think?

At least were not talking about whats down his pants again

Oh, see the thread in private section guys.

How about anyone holding the ork area gets the Boyz support. They could be freebooterz

'If da stong enouf ta bash da wayz hear, thnz we better bazh for emz or dah mayz bazh uz'

EDIT: bah you posted as I was typing.

What type of greater deamon? New rules, or old rules?

The big thing about the orks is them walking on from a random table edge. For example, Three killer cans comming on behind a Tau army and smashing immedaitely into close combat is no fun.... not much point in the poor Tau guy even turning up. Thats just an example, but I think you see what I mean! :)

Point taken, the random table edge can be removed.

So the new ammended special rules would read as follows:

Bone Shrine

An ancient crumbling warp icon that has been overlooked or secretly preserved.

Allows non-Imperials (so not Space marines or Imperial guard) a single attack on any province on the map (i.e. using strange warp technologies to mount an assault).
Any Non Imp force gets a Greater Demon (As detailed in the Chaos Marine Codex) on a single roll of 4+ taken at the beginning of any 1 turn, (no more than one roll) when defending.
(Space Marines are too pious to have demons fighting for them, but we could imagine that everyone else inc. Imperial guard are tricked into seeing something else, i.e the spirit of the emperor, Saint etc)

Chaos gain 4Vp for this area, Non Imperials gain 2Vp

Orks Landing

The original landing site of the first Ork Spacehulk still inhabited by roaming Warbands.
Any force first entering this province must defeat a 1500pt ork army.
Any player owns this province and if models allow they can call upon additional Ork reserves to defend this province. The extra reserves are rolled as follows: 1-2 50pts
2-4 100pts
3-6 150pts
These additional freebooters can be any Ork unit but must comply with the force organisation rules (so you can’t have 4 Heavy supports or 3 HQs etc.)

Non Orks gain 2Vp for this area, Orks gain 4Vp

Emperors Shrine

The Emperors Shrine is a long forgotten fortification, emblazoned with statues and carvings of imperial victories.

Must play the Hold at all Costs Mission from the Warhammer 40000 rulebook.

This area has ancient Lascannon defence platforms built into the emperor’s shrine as additional defence from a long dead enemy. The controlling player may use his technical specialists to try and re-activate these defences every turn.
The Defending player may place a single twin linked Lascannon defence turret within there deployment zone.
The Turret must be protected by at least a single Troop choice, (i.e set up within 6 inches of)

On a single roll of 4,5,6 taken each turn the Turrets may fire as normal, on a roll of 1 the gun will fail to fire and will be inoperable for the remainder of the game, a score of 2-3 means the gun will not fire that turn. (Non Human races who have less understanding of Human machines will render the weapon inoperable on a roll of 1 or 2.)

Turrets have the following profile FA 12, SA 12, BA, 12 BS 3 Twinlinked.

Imperial players get 4Vp non Imperials gets 2Vp

all sounds great to me... anyways, let's face it, we're not gonna get it right 1st attempt... so let's start and be open minded enough to revisit things as we go along and be prepared to change things if they don't work... i'm sure the next campaign will be even better ;)

btw, how and when do u win?

lol - sorry if that sounded like it was all I was concerned about... I'm not though. I was just thinking that we should have an end to it though, so we can take another army at some point down the line, or restart for 5th ed. etc.

I would still like to see a 500pt reserve force, that can be used at times, to either gear up for a city fight, like a real general would, or maybe gear up for an attack from a horde army, as a real general would.

I have no problems with codex choices who have a choice of weapon, eg: a M/Melta or a Heavy Bolter for the same points choosing what they want to take on the actual day of battle either... but only whre the points are exactly the same, and also, not taking a weapon from one unit and giving to another unit points-wise.

Dont listen to him Chris, just keep it simple with a 1500pt list for everyone. It will make us think more about our army selection.
After all we are exploring a new realm and we have no idea what we might come across in the process. 8O

Damn, I'm not even sure I know what army I wanna take yet..! Any chance u can wait till I make up my new Daemon army. I believe I will have most of it by next Wed, according to Gav.

Although the remainder prolly won't be out till 10th May I think he said :(

That might be too long for most.... maybe I can use IG men as Bloodletters ?? :|

How about we start wed 30th? Is this too late?

The book says to play the campaign until it becomes stale or if there is an absolute winner, I think that if we start now we can all be distracted from waiting for the new rules to ruin our armies (Bloody Rules, ruin 40k) and concentrate on the campaign.
Hopefully we won't get bored and Nigel won't win until June and then we can go straight into the new rules?
What do you think, exciting eh.. :o

I am not here this wed, but will be about next wed if you really can't wait, but I thought you might like to get a few demon games under your belt before you commit. Im certainly looking forward to seeing them on the field.
