Eldar these days

Postby tundrik1982 » Sun Jan 25, 2015 12:56 pm

Hello,

Just looking into getting an Eldar army but wanted to get everyone's opinions on how they are in the current edition?
Never going to be the kind of player who plays to massacre every player but want an army that will work well. I don't mind losing a lot of games getting use to the armies style etc.

Cheers

One of the strongest armies in the current game. The codex has a few choices to make (in my opinion) a list that is just too much for the majority of other forces. They can also pull some dirty tricks using allies.

However, if you moderate yourself you can run some very fun lists for both opponents. Eldar also have a very attractive model range, with most of the older range able to slot seamlessly into a current model army. Just be careful not to accidentally turn into 'that guy' with too many of the the tempting sweetmeats in this codex.

There are a few models that I do def want but haven't got the codex yet.

I am wanting Warp Spider unit, Scorpion unit, Fire Dragon unit, Wraithknight then not sure was thinking about a Crimson Hunter as I know a few people like their flyers.

eldar have got something for everyone, and have lots of combinations, fast bikes or serpent lists or slow durable wraith list, mass guardian formations or elite aspect strike force.:)
warp spiders are a very strong unit both mobile and with good firepower,
scorpions are one of my favorite units but suffer from a decent way into combat,
fire dragons are just the best at tank busting and character hunting but need a wave serpent to make the most of them.
wraithknight is just all round bad ass but avoid sword option as it dose not give you much.
crimson hunter is very good and more useful than the hemlock.
also don't discount the humble catapult as its blade storm ability can shred terminators on a roll of a 6 to would and you can get a lots of shots out of a squad. combine that with the fact that just about every unit can move in the shooting phase just after or before shooting means even your humble guardians are nasty.

best thing to do is to pick a craftworld you like the look of and build a list around that with the units you like the best. :)
