Inter club gaming

Postby Steve D » Thu Apr 25, 2013 11:11 am

Steve here, a fellow NE gamer. Am looking at the moment of getting some interest in setting up interclub gaming days between the various NE clubs. I currently have interest from clubs in Redcar (Ironbeards), Durham, Sunderland etc and was wondering if you would be interested? It's early days yet, format to be decided and agreed on, but was envisioning multisystem gaming across one day, possibly being a NE club shield that the overall winners on the day would keep until the next event. Possibly that the winners of the shield would host the next event too.

At the moment, just looking for interest in such an undertaking - would you be interested?

Any questions just ask!

As many gaming systems as we can get interest in, so off the top of my head WFB, 40K, FoW, Malifaux, BB, Kings of war, x wing, etc etc.

Just at the gathering interest stage at the moment but would think we could get a day organised in the summer I would think.

This would be cool on a national level... Maybe if we put enough thought into it, we could hash out a plan to run one for main regions, with a single event that culminates in a gaming club of the year tournament...?

I'd help out too if you wanted that type of thing

There is already a national one run every year- the WPS club challenge. I used to be on the organising committee for that and it was always one of my favourite events.

At the moment, I think we need numbers of who might be interested in attending a NE club event and the systems they want to play so we can plan the size of venue needed. If anyone can let me know that? (Rough idea is good enough i think).

I'd play 40k, space hulk and Monopoly. I'd do cludo at a push, but once every one knows how it's played it's always the person who got first turn that wins, if you don't what I mean then fancey a game?

Ok all, looking at 17th Aug for the 1st event, starting off with WFB and 40K (can expand depending on interest for future events) and going to see if can limit initial numbers to 4 people in each system per club - but this can be increased depending on take up. Will be at the Worhamma club in Sunderland, packs and info to come but put the date in your diaries!

That may be a little to short notice for me as I've got a gaming trip planned on the 10th to pay for. I'll have to see what travel expences are like.

Here is the pack for WFB, am working on the 40k one now. Any questions just ask! :) Hope to see lots of you there.

Games:
Battles will be fought using any of the GW published army book armies (including FW Chaos Dwarfs) up to a points limit of 2500pts.
There are no restrictions and rulebook scenarios will be used – these will be announced before each round. Any scenario which ends the game prematurely (e.g. Watchtower, Blood and Glory) a bonus of 750VP’s will be granted to the person who won the scenario and the battle will continue onto a maximum of 6 turns.
Players will be drawn randomly for the first round, then based on the swiss system. If possible, you will not play members of the same club!
Scoring system:
The following scoring system will be used at this event:

Victory Point Difference Winner TP’s Loser TP’s
0-200 10 10
201-400 11 9
401-600 12 8
601-800 13 7
801-1000 14 6
1001-1200 15 5
1201-1400 16 4
1401-1600 17 3
1601-1800 18 2
1801-2000 19 1
2000+ 20 0

Secret Missions:
Each player will have three secret missions at the start of the day. Each mission can only be played once and should be played in secret before deployment has started.
Mission 1: Advance!
You will gain 850 VP’s for having more banners in your opponents half of the table than he does.
Mission 2: Control the Battlefield!
You will gain 250VP’s for each quarter of the table your army controls. To control a quarter, you must have more banners than your opponent in that table quarter. Each banner you control can only be applied to one quarter. Measure which quarter the banner is in from the banner itself, not the unit. If the banner is in more than one quarter, the controlling player decides which quarter to apply the banner to.
Mission 3: Surgical strike!
Secretly note down 3 units from your opponents army. These can include warmachines and characters. For each of these units that are destroyed or fleeing at the end of the game, you gain an extra 250VP’s.
Payment and location:
Payment of £5 should be sent via paypal to: Sales@worhamma.com stating your name and club.
The location of the event is St Annes Community Hall, sr4 8es. The hall is located behind the church. If you need any help with directions, please email me at steven.davie@bt.com. It is located 5 mins from the a19/a183 junction.

Here are the 40k rules...

Timetable:
9am-09:30 – Set up and registration
09:30-12:00 – Game 1
12:00-12:30 – Lunch
12:30-15:00 – Game 2
15:00-17:30 – Game 3
17:30-18:00 – Finish, tidy up and winners!
Games:
Permitted Armies
Your army must be no more than 1850 points.
All current Codexes produced and on sale to the public prior to 3rd of Aug 2013, will be legal to draw from. Please be up to date with the most current printing of the Codex or rules you are using. Please note that army lists from Forgeworld books are not permitted. Players can choose their list from a standard force organisation chart, which means that they can take one fortification and one allied detachment as per the standard rules.
The only additional limit we are placing to ensure the maximum enjoyment for the maximum number of people is that we are imposing a limit of no more than two flyers per army. We have imposed this as many armies still have limited access to anti aircraft weaponry and will struggle against six Vendettas or nine Necron flyers!
Forgeworld Units
Each army is permitted one Forgeworld unit (i.e. not from a standard codex), which must fit into a standard force organisation chart. Please ensure that you bring the relevant and most recent rules with you! Telling your opponent, “Don’t worry, I know what my bizarre Forgeworld monster does in the game”, without backing it up with rules will be heavily frowned upon!
Missions and Deployment
The missions played will be from the 6th edition Warhammer 40,000 rulebook and will be announced before each game.
Players will be drawn randomly for the first round, then based on the swiss system. If possible, you will not play members of the same club!

Scoring system:
Victory or Defeat!
Winning a game, as per the standard mission rules in the 40K rulebook gains you 20 points, whilst a loss gets you zero points. A draw gives 10 points each

Margin of Destruction
Calculate the Army Points Destroyed by each player and work out the difference. The player that has the Points Destroyed difference in their favour will receive a bonus score and the other player receives a deduction, as shown below. An explanation of how these are calculated is included below. Note that this can result in the loser of the game gaining extra tournament points!

1750pts Army Points Destroyed Modifier Table
Difference in Army Points Destroyed Bonus Penalty
1450-1750 +5 -5
1150-1449 +4 -4
850 -1149 +3 -3
550 – 850 +2 -2
250 – 549 +1 -1
0 - 249 0 0

Army Points Destroyed – Definition

Many long time gamers will remember when ‘Victory Points’ referred to the number of points you gained for destroying your enemy’s army. So, if you wiped out a Space Tactical Squad, you gained 170 victory points. Many tournaments (including this one) still use this mechanism to aid scoring tournament points, even though the current 40K rulebook doesn’t include these rules. Confusingly, 6th edition now refers to the points gained for deciding victory as victory points (e.g. 3 victory points for claiming an objective). We will now refer to the old style points for destroying the enemy as “Army Points Destroyed”. They are scored in exactly the same way as they used to be, but this is repeated below for clarity.

Army Points Destroyed are gained for destroying or damaging enemy units. The points you gain are always equal to the points cost of that unit, including upgrades. So, for destroying a Space Marine Rhino with a dozer blade, you would gain 40 points (35 points for the Rhino and 5 points for the upgrade). The methods of gaining points are detailed below.

Independent characters and monstrous creatures:
• Killing, fleeing, removing from play or otherwise absent from the board (e.g. Saint Celestine that hasn’t yet resurrected) – Full Points
• Wounding – Half Points

Units:
(note Space Marine units that have divided into combat squads are calculated based on each unit)
• Wiped out, fleeing or otherwise off the board - Full Points
• Wiping out at least half the models in the unit - Half Points

Vehicles:
• Destroying (either wrecked or exploded) or otherwise removed from the board - Full Points
• Immobilised - Half Points

Fortifications:
• Destroying where possible (For Aegis Lines, this means destroying the gun, if one is present. If no gun is present, no points can be gained) or otherwise removed from the board - Full Points

Secret Missions:
At the start of the tournament, players will receive a set of three secret objectives. Each player will randomly pick one of these secret objectives for each game and can only use each objective once. This will be done after all deployments, but before rolling to seize the initiative. Your Secret Objective should obviously be kept secret from your opponent during the game, and should not be revealed until either the objective is completed or the game has finished.

There are a total of 5 bonus points per game available for achieving your secret objective. These will be added to your tournament points for the game. If both players achieve their Secret Objective, each player receives 5 bonus tournament points. In the event of a wipe out result or one player concedes bonus points will only be award if the winner achieved their Secret Objective before the game ended. The Secret objectives are printed below for reference, but a set will be supplied to each player on the day. Don’t lose them!

Bring me the Head of Dan Francisco!
You must kill an enemy character in a challenge. Secretly nominate and write down a character in the enemy army at the start of the game. Reveal this to your opponent when you have completed the mission.

Perhaps Today is a Good Day to Die!
Nominate a Troops unit in your army at the start of the game and secretly write it down. To complete this mission, this unit must have been totally wiped out by the end of the game. Moving the unit off the board for any reason (including fleeing) does not achieve this mission.

If it bleeds, we can kill it.
Nominate a single non-vehicle unit in the enemy army at the start of the game and secretly write it down. You must destroy this unit in close combat by the end of the game in order to complete this mission. Only the last wounds need to be inflicted in close combat.

Payment and location:
Payment of £5 should be sent via paypal to: Sales@worhamma.com stating your name and club.
