It's one of the electronic talking figures. It's a bit crackly, but still works, haven't got a list of the phrases to hand though. I've also got the electronic talking Vader, it's the first Vader I got a while ago but the bodysuit is peeling as the coating has dessicated over the years.

Nah, I'm sticking to the Imperials for now - even Luke and Han will be helmeted and hanging around with the other Stormtroopers.

I've tweaked the STL files for the throne to fix the closed holes on the underside and spilt the main chair part in half as it was slightly too big to fit into an Ultimaker 2 printer that a friend at work has. Came into work this morning to find that he'd printed the left hand of the chair over the weekend, taking 62 hours and about 300g of PLA.

It'll take about a week for the other 3 parts to completed. Then I'll need to glue them together, prime and sand the surface to get it smooth, and then paint it. Updates to follow.

Looking very good. I've no real knowledge of 3d printing, but 62 hours sounds a long time. Is that long, or have my expectations been too influenced by film and tv?

For something this size on a home printer it's actually pretty quick. I prepped a print of the same thing on the software for the Industrial printer at work to see how long it would take and it was around 50 hours, and that printer costs £25k. I think it's why the price on Shapeways was so ridiculously high as most of the cost would be for print time rather than material.

It's not hollow, it's got a 20% fill density like a honeycomb which reduces the amount of plastic needed to print it compared to a solid fill but keeps it very rigid. The surface thickness is 0.8 mm and it's printed using a 0.4mm nozzle. It's pretty smooth too, if I'd printed it on the printer at work I've done my previous models on it would have a much more stepped surface and would need a lot of filling and sanding to get a similar surface quality.

You can't tell from the photo but it's about 20cm tall and 12 cm wide. I'll post up some more pics when the other parts are done along with other items to give a sense of scale.

Got all the pieces printed, now just need to glue them all together and paint them. If I can prep and glue them in the next couple of days I'll be entering this month's competition.

It's painted and as finished as I can get it. From a distance it looks ok, but I'm not completely happy with it up close - it's nigh on impossible to touch up metallic car paint when you notice little mistakes, a strip and respray would be needed to get it looking right.

The GW paints used were old Liche Purple for the cushions; Chaos Black and Mithril Silver for the front of the top part; Blood Red, Red Gore, Blazing Orange, and Bad Moon Yellow on the buttons with a little Skull White.

The main base colour for the chair is Peugeot Steel Grey from Halfords, and some Chaos Black in the recesses on the base.

Looks like the emperor is having a sly 40 winks in the bottom picture!

Couldn't resist taking a photo of this again today, as I've just modified the helmet on the Sideshow ANH Vader to sit a bit lower as it was looking a bit like a startled rabbit.

EDIT: replaced the photo with a better one from my camera.

I haven't updated this for quite a while as I'd stopped getting 12" figures, but recently got the itch again and decided that Boba Fett was lonely without the rest of the bounty hunters that are with in The Empire Strikes Bsck. The last of these arrived today, now I all need to do is figure out how I'm going to fit them into my display. Time to get some more shelving units.

Bounty hunters! We don't need their scum.

That Bossk figure looks ripped though. Steroids or working out?
