Date/time mistakes

Postby Spack » Wed Apr 09, 2008 2:34 pm

I'm currently trying to fix the data - at some point the daemon on the server that keeps the time in sync decided to jump it ahead 12 hours, which has messed up some threads. I think I've corrected it in the forums, and I'm now attempting to clean up the PMs. This has had an effect of casuing "cannot post so soon" messages appearing, sorry.

Update on this - if you still get errors about posting too soon you may need to clear your ageofstrife.com cookie.

aaaaaaaah, thats so much better. I felt like the door knocker in labyrinth who hadn't spoken in ages. (I tried to report the time stamps going off in the help desk) but it said I'd posted too much to let me report the errors , same with PMs, strange how the shoutbox still worked though (imagery imagery).
Still cookie clearance seemed to work for me.(is that also why it said we had 60+ users online (was that just everyone for the last day all at once? how did the system hold up to that?

I think the 60 users was due to looking at timestamps of last use time where time > 5 mins ago, so yes it was due to the cocked up time.

I'm still trying to work out what went wrong - either there's a time server at ntp.org that's about 13 hours too fast, or the clock on the server sped up on it's own. I'll keep an eye on it in case it does it again.
