If you see Newbie for your rank (under your name in your forum posts) it means that you haven't chosen a race from which to receive your rank. Go to the Control Panel and click on the Profile tab, you should then see a drop down list at the top named Rank Theme which is a list of "Races" from which you can pick - the rank will be based on this selection, along with a number of other factors.
